1. Yes.
Ventura appealled to those who knew nothing about politics or government, celebrity-worshipers, the disenchanted, the rebellious, young men with backward baseball caps, tough men, women who like tough men, and repugs and Dems who like excitement and have some feeble belief that Hollywood stars are better than them and can get things done. Lots of people voted who will never vote again... they know nothing and care nothing about how their society is governed, they just like celebs.

2. I dont think so.
Like Ventura or not, he had strong views and made them known.

I think Ventura had to fight against his former career to get into politics, while Arnold rides the wave of his celebrity to get into office.

3. I disagree
I think Ventura appealed to a lot of similiar people, but he was very different from Arnold. Jesse had some firm held beliefs and had no qualms about expressing them, even if they got him a lot of bad press. I actually admired Jesse a lot.

4. not really
I know alot of intelligent people, who follow politics, who voted for Ventura because they were turned off by the Repug and Dem candidate. (BTW: The Repug candidate was Norm Coleman)

Ventura had been mayor of a large Minneapolis suburb and was well liked there. He had a couple good ideas, and alot of people fell for it.

Personally, I thought he was a dipsh*t.

6. Jesse was erudite and possessed a brain.
He was also an American. I thought him a misfit as a civil servant but this really is apples and oranges. There is no comparison and no reason to insult Mr. Ventura on something other than his performance as governor. Also, Mr. Ventura owed no one and spoke for no one except himself and those he considered his constituents. Given, he was more emotional than logical but I always felt that he was sincere.
