It seems to be obvious that CNN wants Schwarzenegger to win
They have cameras camped outside his polling place, wwhich looks a mansion, and all they talk about is the Schwarzenegger campaign. Enough is enough! There are other people running and they barely get mentioned. C'mon CNN, where the hell is fair and balanced? I have absolutely no use for McClintock, but at least he seems to be true to his beliefs. And what happened to Bustamante? We'll never know by watching CNN.

3. the media has been whoring for Arnold
since the beginning devoting most of the recall coverage to him. Yes, they have covered the allegations but still you get the idea that the media would love for Arnold, the movie star, to be Gov. of California. I hate the way the media drives elections in this country.

6. Yep, well...
...Arnie makes it easy for them to avoid the fact that there are 130+ names on the ballot. It's almost as if they want to throw it to him just because it's easier to cover. Ratings, ratings, ratings. An orchestrated circus covering an orchestrated coup.

Keep a list, and check it twice, because there will be an accounting, and it may not be "all black and white" (as the chimp is so fond of pointing out), considering all the damned fuzzy math, but there are those that have worked counter to the public good, and they should be held responsible.

16. Media agenda
To zidzi:

This gets back to the whole myth of media bias.

It doesn't exist. In order for the media to get a "scoop", and thus, to boost ratings and profit, they cannot make enemies with those who are in charge, or else all the really hot stories go to the other networks. Since Repugs are in charge, they're going to kiss up to them. CNN probably feels that Arnold will be in charge, and thus, they kiss his ass so they won't be left in the cold. It's as simple and sad as that.

8. No offense but
duh. Of course they want the big movie star to win. The idea of news as a public service is long gone, particularly among the cable news networks. All they care about is ratings, and Governor Arnold means much bigger ratings than Governor Davis or Governor Bustamante.

It's the same reason you didn't hear CNN asking any tough questions in the lead-up to the war. Ratings equal money. And CNN is a for-profit business.

12. Arnold Is Going To Have A Rude Awakening
If Arnold wins the Governership, he will be unpleasantly suprised by the fact that the position entails actual WORK.

Apparently he has yearned throughout his life for adulation and adoring crowds... and while he has experienced this during his pep rallies it will not last forever.

He most certainly would be a puppet and may even be content to exist as such...

except that there will eventually be negative media and unhappy crowds.

He will, if elected, go pretty much the way of Jessie Ventura.

18. Religious zealots
I had a conversation with a few Republican Hill staffers on Sunday about the whole mess, about how hypocritical it was of them to bastardize Clinton for having consentual sexual relations, albeit adulterous, yet now dismiss Arnold sexually harassing some 15 young girls as being "harmless" and even possibly acceptable. Their argument to me was that Arnold didn't do it while in the office of the Presidency and that makes all the difference. I rebutted that moral standards shouldn't be any different from person to person and that if they really felt that the moral fabric of the country was diminishing that it should not be promoting candidates that have a lengthy track record of disgusting behavior. They really didn't see the point, which leads me to believe they never really cared about the moral fabric of America - only the victory of the Republican Party. It only disgusts me that the American people can't see the forest through the trees on this one...

15. Yeah, and next year maybe some CNN reporter will admit to the
public that there was a lot of corporate pressure to tow the line on Arnold, and by the when CNN will have moved on to its next fascist whoring moment and there will suffer no repercussions for the crap they pulled in the past.

Its not that he is GOP. He is a celeb. To them that means story. Forget hard news. CNN is probably drooling to do a "Osbornes" style show from the governor's mansion.

29. Did they treat Bush* the same way on Election Day?
I wonder if they are doing this because they believe Arnold will win. Remember that the media all expected Bush* to win in 2000, and we all know he didn't actually win.
