Our army has barracaded the area with tanks, helicopters flying overhead, and soldiers pointing machine guns at the citizenry, firing bullets into the air. Our soldiers must be asking themselves, "Where are the friggin' flowers Rummy promised us?"

The Iraqis in the videos didn't look like terrorists to me. They looked like irate Iraqi citizens PO'd that the US government had taken away one of their clerics.

It's a pity, as far as our military is concerned, that Bush isn't the type of president to give 2 cents about cultural mores and sensitivities. Perhaps if he were more educated, our military wouldn't be in the quagmire that it is in right now.

6. CNNI showed Bush in another of his pseudo press conferences
I tried to put myself in the shoes of a fundamentalist while I listened to the garden gnome tell us, in his most cavalier of tones, that we may never find out who outed the CIA agent (don't I feel secure), and that Israel had a right to defend its people against terrorist attacks, even though Israel has said that its bombing of Syria had nothing to do with payback for the most recent suicide attack.

As a "fundamentalist," I wondered, does Bush feel Syria likewise has a right to defend itself against Israel's preemptive attacks, and, using Bushy logic, shouldn't Syria respond in kind?

Sounds like it could be WWIII to me.

on edit...

I expect something bad to come from the Turkey troops we've bought. The CPA doesn't want them, and the Kurds certainly don't want them.

Baghdad in Turmoil With Protests, Attack

Witness Hussein Amin said the mortar shell or rocket-propelled grenade fired at the ministry compound landed near the office of Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari and broke windows. Zebari was not there. Workers in the compound came streaming out and Iraqi guards fired rifles in the air.

The U.S. military press office said it was aware of "a situation" at the Foreign Ministry but had no details. Two U.S. armored personnel carriers and five Humvees had sped to the scene.

<snip>

In southwest Baghdad, U.S. soldiers in about 20 Humvees with two helicopters overhead confronted some 600 demonstrators at a Shiite Muslim mosque, with protesters claiming the Americans had illegally detained their imam.

Protesters shouted "America equals Saddam" and "Today we are raising banners tomorrow we will raise weapons."

7. The regime has ordered us to focus on good news in Iraq

In this particular case, when the crowd is neutralized, a centcom representative will inform the press how many Iraqis were killed.
