Anyone ever get a democraticunderground.com that is digusting?
I got it a couple of times and it has disgusting things on it. I thought I was typing some thing wrong, but I am not. I am calling the police. It will not print!

4. This is illegal they hijacked my browser and when I try to print the
page it comes up blank. If I can't print it, I need a witness, police seem good to me.

Do you run a program like SpyBot Search & Destroy regularly? Does anyone else use your computer? Have you recently searched for song lyrics (believe it or not those sites can be the worst for installing malware)?

This only happens when I am logged into DU because I have to allow friggin cookies., which I do not routinely do. And the only way I can have a witness is to get the cops involved. The site is

democraticunderground.com/top.php

Edited. Of course I have a hijack browser prob. I use spybot, adaware, AVG, spygate and zonealarm firewall. They are updated almost daily and run almost daily. My ISP is Comcast and the only reason to call the police is that I have checked the spelling 10 times and it is correct and this is like the 3rd or 4th time this has happened and print (from tool bar, and file doesn't work). The only time it happens is when I am on DU.

8. Sounds like you have some spyware or something
A trojan or virus, even.

Do some scans on your system.

In absence of that, are you accessing the site via a bookmark or typing it in? Could you be misspelling it? Many porn sites and nefarious sites take a popular website and buy a domain that is a misspelling of it.

13. What happened to me was...
...I actually did spell it wrong and when it took me to the foul site, it switched the spelling back in the toolbar. It was bizarre.

not me. But I do remember reading about this a few months ago. I don't remember anything except there were a few (a lot?) of people saying that it had happened to them.

I always get here via the address in my toolbar, which is how I get to all the sites I frequent, so I don't have these types of problems. :shrug:

17. Which browser are you using?
I use Firefox and there is an extension called spoofstick that helps to detect if a site has been spoofed. It prints out the name of the actual website you are visiting on one of the toolbars.

24. Okay I just noticed something
When I minimize DU and the mock DU site, the following happens.

The real DU is DemocraticUnderground.com and the mock DU is democraticunderground.com

I am going to call the police, this is a Federal offense and needs to be stopped. I hope they are reading and crap themselves, before someone, hopefully, serves a warrant.

May I suggest Spyware Blaster and Spyware Guard

Both programs "immunize" your system from spyware.

Another thing, Do you run the Immunize function within Spybot?

29. I just think, that it is time to get the authorities involved. We keep
trying to protect ourselves, without getting the b*tards that are doing this stuff. Like I said this is not the first time, and, I am quite sure not the last time, this will happen. If we don't get the authorities involved, we are just allowing them to keep on, keeping on!

32. No, why bother the admins. They have nothing to do with prosecuting
hackers, except possibly from a technical side. They do a great job here, and while I think they could help, they don't have the authority to prosecute. I am really tired and po'ed, and they can read the thread later. I think I need some documentation, right, now.

I have called all the friggin no's and they are not in till Mon. I will call the 911 and immediately say, this is not an emergency. Guys, if there is a problem, we really do have a problem,

If I were you, I would PM him with any and all documentation of what you are experiencing. He would be the proper person to deal with all the proper authorities on this issue.

I have not experienced the issues you are discussing in this thread, so I have nothing to alert Skinner about. However, if I had, I would contact Skinner.

I agree, it needs to cease and desist. But as a mere member of DU, I am not in any position to be able to do anything about it, other than notify the admins.

but I think that at the end of a long phrase, I did miss it. I tried to post the link here, but it didn't show yet. I know you are right because, I just looked at the minimized title and voila, it's there. democraticundergound.com, please don't go there. I think I focused on all the leading letters that, that r was like assumed.

I am sorry for all the trouble that I caused and will out right say, I WAS WRONG! However, I hate that someone, would make a disgusting site, like that, to catch us, there is no other reason. Good nite all.
