1. Wrong. He/she WILL be identified because CIA wants it that way.
Bush has nothing to say about this one. The CIA set this little outing in motion. They have taken brilliantly careful aim. The will not fail to hit their target. Rove is finished. Bank on it.

17. Oh, I think the CIA may be willing to give them more than a single hint...
...and after they get done, nobody in the future will ever want to knowingly reveal one of their undercover operatives.

Remember, only two sitting presidents got into a conflict with the CIA...one was killed in Dallas, and the other had to resign in disgrace. The CIA does not take prisoners.

Tough call, though, with powerful forces in the CIA and Senate who want to squeeze them dry. And a few other Dark Forces.

7. Bush obviously thinks he can bluff this one
or he is putting up a good show of it. But the fact he said they may not find the leaker, that probably means it is somebody or plural, high up in the administration. Like Rove or Cheney or Scooter, or even Dubya could be involved. So of course they are sanitizing the records to hand to Ashcroft, and trying to pull another one off. The CIA is going to have its work cut out on this one, without records to use as evidence. Plus maybe the bush admin. is trying to cut a deal behind the scenes. I have noticed how really scared he seems lately when he does his public speaking. What is it about that guy, that I always feel sorry for him?

It's just like the arrogant puke to think that he can outmanuver the people who have been running DC since at least the Nixon administration. He might have some like Cheney, Rumsfield, Powell and Kissinger but he may have angered some of the big ol'boys not given to public displays. Imagine what it would be like to have Haig or Baker's boss breathing down your neck.....shudder.

... can't help but think that the leaker *will* be found, or at least a proxy. The problem here for Bush* is there are too many people involved. Someone will talk, and many probably already have "off the record".

My guess is that the Company already knows who did it and and giving the administration time to "investigate" and "find". If they do not, there *will* be a Plan B, and it won't be a happy plan for Bush*.

Echelon captures calls where 'CIA' is used, as it most certainly was used in this case (and if you think they dont use it against all calls coming out of the WH...)

Either that, or some scapegoat will silently take on the burden of being the target. But you know: neocons aren't good at taking on such a role, of accepting any guilt, their own, or especially someone else's. Who could Dubya get to take a fall for him?

18. A question about the Secret Service
I know that the Service has its roots in the Treasury. But I wondered where the body guards are recruited. Are they also recruited from Treasury? I've wondered where their loyalties would be when the ex CIA people went on the air with their displeasure.

I even feel funny about asking such a question. But stuff like this crosses your mind when different parts of the gov't are at odds with each other. Geesh. Gives me the willies.
