Cindy's bad. Al's bad. John's bad. Bill's bad.
Edited on Tue Sep-27-05 03:13 AM by smartvoter
Cindy's bad.
Al's bad.
John's bad.
Bill's bad.

Each one had
what made us glad.
Until, of course
they made us mad.

They all are fad
to those who’ve had
our ideals questioned
just a tad.

And every cycle
we act like cads
and lose to W
and his dad.

We turn on Cindy
who’s had it bad.

We turn on Al
for hanging chads.

We turn on John
for stats that don’t add.

We turn on Bill
for charity ads.

It’s rather sad.

3. Yes...some want to shrink the "Big Tent"...
...into a little umbrella.

Recommened.

(Makes a nice mantra, too.)

4. Are you trying to give this place a good reputation...
But, Senor Smart, you know this is not Kerry's fault:

We turn on John
for stats that don’t add.
----------------------------

the only stats with a
paper trail on election day,
still exist to our dismay,
as proof of through-the-roof
victory with held and delayed.

don't dispute me now or
i'll call you a cow.

5. This Place Needs A "Time Out"
I think it's what makes DU fun. This is a diverse group of people...from young and idealistic to old and still idealistic...and everything in between. There's a lot of energy and enthusiasm that generally gives this place a fun and upbeat nature, but that is also a volitile mix when you throw in a bit of angst, frustration or a let-down.

I've seen this place rise and fall many times in the years that I've been a member. A lot happens when frustration here festers. People start developing strong ideas and opinions and then start butting heads...or a theory gets taken too seriously by some and then leads to a shouting match and so on. It doesn't take much to start a good flame war here...and some delight in such antics.

Right now, this place is loaded with frustration. It's thousands of us looking for ways to express our growing contempt with what's going on. This only gets more energized as DU works as an echo chamber...emboldening some who see their popularity here as some kind of vindication on their beliefs and when the beliefs and the personalities mix...be assured a flame war is on the way.

Long ago, I learned to deep a healthy distance from much of what happens here...emotionally, financially and socially. This is like a water-cooler...a place where a lot of the latest news and gossip gets out, but very little work is ever done.

7. Don't forget Russ Feingold.
We're all mad at him too, even though he used to be a big hero around here.

Good poem.

24. Makes no difference
that he voted against the Patriot Act and the war, don't you know? He has sealed his fate forever as a bad, bad man. I really, really wish he had voted against Roberts, but my disappointment will pass and I'll forgive him. There is probably no way that Roberts could NOT get approved, much to my sorrow, and Russ's vote one way or the other, makes no difference, except symbolically. Symbolism does count, though.

31. I'm gonna wait and see.
I haven't been watching Russ all that closely, I admit, but his patriotism and character seem unimpeachable to me. I have on other occasions found my self confounded by his voting patterns. It is as if he is less concerned than most about the political message his vote sends. Not defending him at all, just saying it's not the first time that I wasn't on the same page with Russ.

20. great poem. I was thinking about this first thing when I woke up today.
Why are we not pointing out the voting records, missteps, outright criminal actions of the OPPOSITION?

I'm not saying we shouldn't discuss the positive and negatives of our representatives, but we should keep in mind that our posts influence others. Sometimes, those "others" do not have the best intentions here.
