The Dems want an Independent Commission (or an evenly split between the parties hearing) and didn't want to give this farce any credibility because it isn't non or bi-partisan at all.

edit to add - the Dems obviously can't subpoena the people to contradict the bullshit. They can't call witnesses to show the failures or problems. They have no power at all in these Hearings so they didn't want to go along with them and make them look like a "real" investigation.

And then Jefferson corrected him. But the trick was to put the words into the record so that they could later be quoted out of context. What a weasel.

She just basically did a litany of all the reported instances of FEMA turning back food, misdirecting supplies, refusing gas, etc.

We may see this sequence: Bush last gasp helicopter tours and hurricane season end, coverup ends, real inquiry begins, horrendous details come out, 2006 hurricane season begins, inquiry reports, hurricane season whirls along, and then Nov. 2006 elections.

Right before they cut away, Myrick asked for documents showing FEMA asked for airlifts; & asked if he could get those in a timely manner. Brownie sort of chuckles & says FEMA's "under the gun" & it might be awhile. You're unemployed!! How busy can you be?
