Heavy majority of Dems have "trust and confidence" in media
Gallup: Trust in the Media Rebounds, Albeit Slightly
By E&P Staff
Published: September 27, 2005 11:15 AM ET

(snip)
According to Gallup's annual Governance survey, the number of Americans who trust the press has increased significantly since last year....

Still, close to half of those surveyed said the media is too liberal, followed by a third who say the press is about right. A smaller number describes the media as too conservative.

The differences in opinion largely fall along party lines. Democrats are much more likely to express confidence in the media, while Republicans are much more likely to perceive bias....

Democrats (70%) are much more likely to say they have a great deal or fair amount of trust and confidence in the media than Republicans (31%). On the opposite end of the question, 69% of Republicans say they have very little or no trust in the media, as opposed to Democrats (30%).

Eight in 10 Republicans (81%) say the news media are too liberal, while 15% say they are about right, and just 3% say they are too conservative. Among Democrats, a majority (57%) says the news media are just about right, while the rest are almost equally divided in their description of the news media as too liberal (18%) and too conservative (23%).

11. Someone had another poll about how American's confidence in the
media was at an all time low.

Which do I believe? I'm gonna believe the one that doesn't come from Gallup, for christ's sake.

Gallup is the worst!

9. Gallup boss a Big GOP donor -- tries to "manage" public opinion
Article still applies:

By now the explanation for the Gallup poll's massive pro-Bush slant is clear -- they overpoll republicans. Why? The Gallup boss is a big GOP donor.

Harmless, you say? -- Maybe not, if Dems get discouraged and don't vote. Jess suggests a more sinister purpose: camouflaging the e-theft of the election.

They are a helpful tool for BushCo. to try and create it's own reality.

14. If this is accurate, we're truly fucked
Republicans can't have a media rightwing enough for their tastes. Meanwhile, the Democrats are either so "moderate" or so apathetic that they cannot perceive the bias that already exists.

Media reform? Fuck that, it's already doing exactly what it has to do to perpetuate its corporate status quo.
