My laughometer said it was one of the better shows. Even if I can't remember that other line that was totally brilliant.

context that everyone would understand. You did understand the blue dress, didn't you?

12. I understood that in reaction to a GOP scandal,
He decided to remind everyone of a Democratic one.

But that would still be OK if it was funny, but it wasn;t.

14. I understand that everthing illegal, immoral or evil that *co does can be
excused by saying "Clinton had a blowjob". It's the universal excuse. Eddie Haskels the world over are getting off scot-free with it. You know when Saddam sez "blue dress" in court, he's gonna get sprung.

20. I didn't think that was the point
In fact, I don't think there really was much of a point. It was just a dud, in my opinion. Nobody gets a hit everytime, and that bit just fell flat, I thought. Clinton blowjob jokes are cheap and easy, and I think TDS can do better.

24. I agree it was not the point...
I think the point on TDS was a cheap laugh. But I'm tired of that sitch being brought up so much. There is so much to spoof on with regard to Hot Tub Tom without bringing up something so completely unrelating. But, anyway, I'm complaining. I realize there are better things to complain about.

Then he is fair game, I too hate Clinton jokes, but not because I like Clinton or find them partisian, I just think that they are stale.

26. I've thought it's been consistently bombing since about last December.
Edited on Thu Sep-29-05 10:27 PM by BlueIris
When a lot of the "comedy" became REALLY tasteless. And Jon really needs to make his staff just stay the fuck away from "jokes" about anything related to choice, women's health or women. Because the writers are evidently incapable of doing that in a way that isn't in horribly BAD taste. I actually had my love for the show effectively ruined through a "This Week In God" bit in which poor Stephen Colbert was forced to tell jokes about "back-alley contraceptionists." That shit was disgusting (it was so terrible that Colbert made what looked to me like a pretty serious attempt to get out of doing that part of the sketch--telling Jon beforehand, while sounding dead serious, "I can't do this tonight, I've just taken a vow of silence"). Unacceptable. Shameful. The show hasn't been the same for me since that time. I am starting to believe JS needs to hang it up.

38. I don't know. I think that the last few weeks were great
about Novak walking off the set of CNN, about Brown, about Bush and New Orleans.

In general, I like the first part of the show where he gives us the news. I agree that the reporters do not always hit it and the interviews are bad. He rarely let his guest complete their sentences and cut them in the middle and all in only 5 min.

28. Wonder if Comedy Central is afraid that TDS is getting too liberal?
Cause it's not been on par lately.... he's been making equal opportunity bad jokes.

Don't they know WHO their audience is??? dumb really dumb. Even the live studio audience is giving him shit about these lame jokes lately.

30. It was so-so
TDS, like any show, has good episodes and bad episodes. You can also say it has good weeks and not so good weeks.

I'd say this week certainly hasn't been its best.

35. Every Hit Doesn't Have To Be A Home Run
Some days are better than others and its all personal taste any way. You didn't like yesterday's show, others did. In the end its a valuable show in that it gives us daily exposure to the disgraceful behavior in Washington. It has the side advantage of being brilliantly funny about one day out of 5, mighty good three days out of 5, and now and then one show slips a bit. Who could ask for more?
