DailyKos NAILS it!!!
Edited on Thu Sep-29-05 11:06 PM by GarySeven
Everyone should read Dailykos on a daily basis - and everyone on DU should read DailyKos tonight. Tonight, a poster named Hunter has written a profound statement of Democratic principles as contrasted to what has been exposed as the rotten, disgusting thuggery and proto-fascism that now infests the core of the Republican Party.

In response to a Conservative blogger who dares to warn that we who gloat over DeLay's fall are - are you ready for this? - flirting with CIVIL WAR in this country, this poster rip's him a new one:

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2005/9/29/181822/366

"And as for the audacity of Democrats speaking up during this process... the redfaced, flatulent fury with which you declare Republicans off-limits to that which you so gleefully hurl yourself...

Welcome to the world of the politics of personal destruction, you tubthumping, chin-jutting, Bush humping gits. Welcome to the nasty and partisan world that Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin, Hugh Hewitt, Grover Norquist, Newt Gingrich, Tom DeLay, and a legion of insignificant lowest-rung toadies like yourselves nurtured into fruition daily with eager, grubby hands, and now look upon with dull-faced faux horror."

It is terrific and I commend it to you my brothers and sisters!

Apologies to two year old children, of course.

They remind me of a 'friend' who played lots of practical jokes. He emptied a salt shaker on my food, then sat back and said 'don't do it back'.

13. Foolish the neocon
If bringing justice to Tom Delay and the other pillagers of the American dream and doul will prompt civil war, I say bring it. Class war has been going on for a long time. Grover and his maggotty friends long ago declared it and have long waged it.

Heh. Grover and his crew like to talk about survival of the fittest. I wish that pudgy little momma's boy were in this room right now ...

Though capable of any savagry to fulfill their abstract vision derived from a philosophy of greed, wimps like Grover are essentially cowardly weiners divorced from their own souls. As Lenin observed, "When it comes time to hang the West, a Capitalist will sell me the rope." Grover is that sort of a capitalist.

I am a man of the West. I am an American. And I say Grover and his magotty friends are traitors to the American vision, because they would glady sell us out and provide the rope. Such men will ever be my enemy, and to them I swear eternal enmity.

Ignore, and they'll go away. I wouldn't take the bait. Let them hang themselves on they're own. They got us in this mess, leave 'um in it.

They're in their last, desperate throes, and begging for a fight.

I say "turn the other cheek," and they'll have NO ONE to debate with. Can't argue with the wall. Hm. Then again, these volatile types could.

29. Maybe, but ...
the poster's point is that the genie is out of the toothpast tube. The only way to stop the rancor and hatred conservatives have unleashed is to build a backfire. Until conservativism is destroyed, intelligent and reasoned political discourse is impossible in this Republic. So long as they succeed in dividing us, we are open to attack from the foreign enemies they have either made or who covet our resources. No, I'm sorry, but we must move against them in a fundamental, savage way - and in the process, stay focused on the fact that we are doing the nation a service.

If you want an analogy, think of someone with an unpleasant task to do, yet sets upon doing the job with grim dispassion. Like, say, an exterminator.

But take the facts and shove them in their face to the point of knock-out THAT is what the current times call for over and over again untill they pack up and go home.

47. A rant of beauty,
a thing of truth. To think back in one's younger days you could chase one of these infuriating jerks back to Mommy or paste him in the smirking kisser. Now we have to release our dangerous blood pressure with prose fireworks, drawing upon truths cast into the gutter and imagery struggling to match their hellish caricatures of humanity.

Why can't we get that out of our pitiful pudding faced pundits who are paid, after all, to entertain with some degree of class and verve?

Nothing quite so fires the poetic art as truth.

53. Unfortunately, truth like beauty seems to be in the eye of the beholder.
Hunter’s response was an eyeful. And yet, they still won’t get it because they can’t accept that their rules of war/confrontation/debate/whatever might be used against them. I don’t care or give a fuck.

They defined and legislated the terms of this bed, so they let them lie in it. I hope that it will be in a prison cell. With good behavior he might get hot tub privileges. (Ha! I taunt the option of hot tub privileges because I don’t think there is yet an option for that, but it could probably happen before the 2006 election comes to pass.)

Bless Delay’s mother fucking heart.

79. I don't like the suggestion
that this is the "world of the politics of personal destruction" - as if Democrats are manufacturing faults in people to set up and destroy.

I don't see how this compares in any way what the Republicans did with their Swift boating of Kerry, and their character assassinations of Hillary and Bill or more recently what they have going against Cindy Sheehan.

What is happening with Delay and Frist - is the law and the courts holding them accountable - as they should be.

67. Tell Kos to be fair to John Kerry and not so biased and I will go
read Daily Kos.As it is now over there, it's a bunch of misinformed attack dogs ready to pounce on anything Kerry. I happen to admire the man and I don't expect agreement, but a little respect for his accomplishments would be nice along with accurate commentary.

71. I gave up on KOS when Kos himself declared that 2004 election
was not stolen and that anyone who dared discuss such a possibility was a tin-foil hatter. Discussion boards are supposed to be for responsible discussion, if I contributors back up their assertions they should be allowed to post.

I am not virulently anti-Kos - he often has some good observations on the Majority Report.

Still - I resent the position he took last November which stiffled communication and action.

82. I've changed my mind on this.
My first reaction was "Sore Loserman". And of course, a lot of us THINK what this poster SAID. It's ok to think it. After all, if only you could read my mind. And knowing what we know, and within the context which we are in, the comments made are beautifully cathartic. However. However, I just read Obama's post on Kos, and I have to agree with his calmer head. And it's not something I like to do. I want to come out swinging. But we're not alone. And we do have to build coalitions. And creating enemies is really easy. Ask me, I'm good at it.
Obama picked out a quote from our friend Paul Simon- "disagreeing without being disagreeable,".

Are we not civilized? Forgive me, I'm thinking Devo here. Haha. But really, let us not stoop to the level of what republicans have become. As good as it feels, and as deserving as we are, we can rise above and be stronger in doing so.

Everyone knows how we want to slam republicans with a proverbial baseball bat. Let's be bigger. It's the harder road. The better road.

86. Disagree with one thought within the rather spectacular rant

In the Delay, Frist and Abramoff indictments and investigations, the Republicans are NOT meeting the world that they created -- in that these investigations are not a result of the politics of personal destruction.

Each of these investigations, from what I can tell, are simply a result of basic investigative and law enforcement efforts. NONE of what I've heard regarding these investigations rise more than a pebble towards the mountain of hate that was the "Whitewater" witchhunt.

As for the politics of personal destruction, I don't see any value in it. I feel we need to retain something of ourselves that differentiates us from the soulless Right. All we need to do is know what we believe, and stand firmly in support of it.

94. Sounds like the George Galloway effect is taking hold
"You're a drink-soaked former-Trotskyist popinjay," to Hitchins was the opening salvo in a war of words that cut like the sharpest of knives.

And ya know what, when we choose to use words, we win. We're far sharper than they are, as a group, and we know the spelling of words like HUGE and MORON. We also do much better at punctuation--!!!1!!1!1!.

En garde, all feckless whiners!!! We'll beat ye to death with our thesauruses!

97. Beautifully written:
"You used the ashes of one of the great liberal cities of America, New York City, as war paint for your own sick, racist dreams."

This is why I cringe when I see folks wanting to be "nicer" or more civil with these nasty folk we now must face. They don't understand anything else.

Their daddys smacked them so often, abuse looks like love, and love, weakness.

This is how it is in America right now. So talk tough, talk true.

Call a liar a liar, but know your facts to call them out.
