American Red Cross is partnering with a network of nearly 50,000 financial locations nationwide and around the world, where those who lived before the storm in ZIP codes presidentially declared Hurricane Katrina areas can receive emergency financial assistance.

The respective institutions will handle security at those locations, just as they routinely do to protect all of their customers.

We have not had mercenaries operating on American soil since 1774 and now the Red Cross is entertainting Black Water mercinearies in NOLA. Is there anybody left there with at least half a brain? I spoke with three Red Cross volunteers about what was going on with their distribution and pointed out that Blackwater is a group of armed mercenaries - corporate contractors who have a very bad reputation. I, too, will write to the Red Cross and let them know money earmarked for Katrina/Rita victims must not go to mercenaries!

They are finding new & inventive ways to loot $$ directly from the treasury and right into the coffers of Halliburton. Dick must be laughing his cheney off. Those indictments from Fritz can't come soon enough.

If that's true, many donors are likely to be unhappy. Who wants to pay mercenaries, soldiers of fortune, when residents of New Orleans are in desperate need? Imagine someone asking if you would like to contribute money to pay the salaries of Blackwater Security.

Too bad that it's the only organization for which my company matches donations in emergency situations.
