Letter To The Corporation For Public Broadcasting

My comments: You might want to write these idiots yourselves. They need to get an earful about the two idiots they have just appointed to watch over our tax supported public broadcasting. One has given over $300,000 to the Republican party and openly disdained Bill Moyers as being one sided (for telling the truth???). The other one has never even had any experience in broadcasting, she is a freaking interior designer!!! She thinks public broadcasting should only support Israel without any criticism, this is her one note issue. In other words they are wanting our tax dollars to support another FAUX network. Here is my letter, which I also CC'd to my local NPR and PBS stations:

Dear CPB

I find it alarming that your board is now made up of all right wing ideologues, like Gaines and Halpren. I have no problem when someone has an agenda and PRIVATELY uses it, as long as they are open about that agenda. This honesty is sorely missing in our “mainstream” media, who loves to pretend they are nonpartisan when they cannot even be responsible journalists; they merely mouth whatever propaganda is issued to them. We already have enough of biased right wing crap in the corporate media; we do not need any more of our tax dollars wasted on the likes of a bunch of Limbaugh idiots.

The proof is in the pudding as far as just more cronyism and partisan hacks is concerned, since you have appointed two right wing nuts to a public board. Gaines is a freaking interior designer, she has NOTHING in the way of broadcasting in her experience. Both have given hundreds of thousands of dollars for right wing issues. All the comments both of your new board members have made against anything that might disagree with themselves, every comment I have heard out of their mouths, has been nothing but disparaging towards PBS and NPR. And you think these shills are worthy of running public broadcasting???

I have always wanted my tax dollars to support public broadcasting and I have given privately of my time and money, as well. But by hiring these two hacks, you have become a part of another embarrassing cartoon in broadcasting, you are no different than FOX. Believe me, there are lots of people like me who now want to see the CPB gone. We do not want the embarrassment of our public broadcasting looking like a bunch of O’Reilly clowns. It is better if you no longer exist. I will never listen to your stations, or give a red cent or one minute of my volunteer time to them again! And believe me I will make sure to tell every single person I know, you are now no different than FOX because you have hired a couple of hack clowns to suck up more of our tax dollars so they can use our airwaves as their private mouthpiece.

I suggest we are playing into their hands by calling for the abolition of the same.

I agree they are doing terrible things to the Board right now, but I am loathe to kill the Corporation as we may never get it back. The CPB does provide substantial monetary support to the PBS stations as I understand it. The local PBS station tells us that they really need that source of funding.

...and I would love to help them.

Perhaps it is time for people to turn to another source of giving our tax dollars, such as with Pacifica. F those CPB fools. My local public broadcasting is becoming a joke as well. Pacifica beats them hands down in quality broadcasting, and would be even better if our tax dollars were diverted to them rather than a bunch of shills, IMO.
