NYT paints Repubs probs due mainly to them not fighting back
Edited on Sun Oct-02-05 11:59 AM by wclubin
on all of the problems as of late, instead of getting to the truth of the matter which is, HOW DO YOU FIGHT BACK AND PAINT A ROSY PICTURE OF CRIMES YOU HAVE COMMITTED!

Amid Turmoil, G.O.P. Seeks to Regain Grip on Its Agenda

1. The record says otherwise. Mismanagement and bad choices caused this.
America gambled on an inexperienced idealogue dumbass and lost. Since bush and the republicans don't want to lead America, lets find someone who does.

10. In my view, anti-government and pro-exploitation positions caused it.
Instead of seeking to improve a government that serves the American people, they got into politics to destroy government in order to exploit American resources rather than expand our human potential. Their positions cannot be excused by allegations of "mismanagement" and "bad choices" because everything they have done has been planned and executed ON PURPOSE.

IMHO.

2. Read this in the very first paragraph...
"- that they are, in fact, confronting the real-world issues of soaring gas prices, Hurricane Katrina relief, Iraq and immigration, while the Democrats are consumed with partisan warfare."

They are, IN FACT, confronting issues...yeah right! They are trying to spin, not take care of business. Dems are consumed with partisan warfare...feck you, Mr. Kirkpatrick!!! Can't possibly guess your political leanings!!!

6. To be fair, that sentence began with, 'Republicans are trying to send
a message that...'

4. Your summary is false and inaccurate. What's YOUR agenda?
The NYT is not painting things that way ("NYT paints Repubs probs due mainly to them not fighting back").

What it does say is that the Republicans are in disarray and reeling after the scandal news hitting them lately and they are regrouping.

You have completely mischaracterized the NYT agenda. What's YOUR agenda?

5. My agenda is to abolish republicans. And no I did not get the NYT
article wrong. In essence what they are saying is that the details of these events is not important, and what the repubs probs is simply that they have not fought off the accusations well enough, while what the dems are doing is simply playing politics, i.e., don't have a real point. Don't you know how to get an author's main point out of an article?

7. It's subtle, but true. Read to the end. The GOP is claiming that all it
has to do is rally around Delay, * and the rest, shout "Liberal Conspiracy", seize control of the media and get America back "On message" (presumably with some more invasions and terrorist threats at home) and everything will be peachy-keen for the Republican Party in time for the 2006 elections, because the base will be energized by the Liberal Conspiracy part and the media will be co-opted and people will be too busy shitting their pants to worry about the stuff they really should be worried about.

The fact that this is all at the tail end of the article is not a good thing. I would have preferred the author of the article to say in BIG BOLD LETTERS "Here is the latest GOP scam, do not be fooled America." Instead the piece reads like a newsletter to local GOP precint workers on how to goose step with their leaders in DC.

11. It's about the GOP, duh.
The headline is "Amid Turmoil, G.O.P. Seeks to Regain Grip on Its Agenda". It's about the GOP. Of course they are going to explain the GOP talking points.

They (the NYT) are not saying "that the details of these events is not important, and what the repubs probs is simply that they have not fought off the accusations well enough, while what the dems are doing is simply playing politics". The NYT is reporting that the GOP are saying that.

Man, why is this distinction so difficult to grasp?

8. "Retain Grip on its Agenda" = "Regain Strangehold on US News Media"

9. Boys and girls. Brainwashing is always subtle. It can be as simple
as the use of one key word to paint a feeling. These ppl are playing hardball. They are probably using PhD. level psychology on us. They have a lot of practice at it. They have been doing it to us since the 1930's when the corpers decided they were gonna take over america.

suggested reading:

Taking the Risk Out of Democracy
Corporate Propaganda versus Freedom and Liberty
By Alex Carey
ISBN 0-252-06616-2

It will make you realize that the repubs are nothing more than
the infantry in the attempted take over of america by a handful
of very rich corperation owners.
