University of Cincinnati Cancels Bennets appearance
Edited on Mon Oct-03-05 04:45 AM by kywildcat
But the headline implies that Bennet postponed this himself....

http://news.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20051003/NEWS01/510030344/-1/CINCI

On edit, Bennet cancelled this appearance. Campus Democrats had planned to demonstrate against him.

1. Too bad, in a way. We have not had...
Edited on Mon Oct-03-05 05:01 AM by slor
a large protest in Cincy, since the chimp himself, touted his phoney war at Union Terminal. 8,000 showed up for that, and for Cincinnati, that was HUGE.

for "players club" members at Caesar's Palace that night. Otherwise I'm SURE Mr. Moral Majority would be there spewing his bigoted bullshit.

7. Do you remember St Joes?
They've put an armed services recruiting station in from of it. And all of the mobile homes behind the strip mall have been replaced by a major home improvement retailer.
All I can do is sing that Pretenders Song.....OHIO

8. We Dems can generate all sorts of public demonstrations
but we come up short on election day. I find it so frustrating.

18. Many reasons;I don't think it is all due to crooked vote counting machines
Consider: an unfocused message, a lack of "depth" of candidates (in Ohio), a weak local party machine, and a RW-neocon press. I am sure we could come up with more, but I need to get on my way to work at the moment.

13. Spin, spin, spin
First off, you've got to love the opening paragraph - we all know many, if not most, people never read the whole article.

Former Education Secretary William J. Bennett, under fire for remarks about aborting black children, has canceled a scheduled appearance at the University of Cincinnati this week because of the resulting backlash.

Only a partisan repug will buy Bennett's line, which essentially passes the blame for his comments to that old standby, the "liberal media."

16. Cincinnati and southern cincinnati
or kentucky,as our state is known as is under that big ugly thumb of the Rove spin machine. Critical reading skills are desperately needed, yet sorely lacking in this area.
Today, Mitch McConnell repug senator for KY is having a press conference. It is believed that he will try to distance himself from the Fletcher house of corruption. One he supported and propped up with no compunction just 1 year ago. And the spin goes on and on and on....

17. What a coward!
I can't believe he canceled. As an educator he should know that he must stand behind his words. I would have liked to see the demonstrations in Cinny. I would have liked to witness the Q&A session (if he would be brave enough to hold one) with the students. He certainly missed an opportunity here.

19. A cowardly repug who won't stand behind his words?
Must be a first.....:sarcasm:

He'll just wait for this firestorm to die down, then go about his business as if it never happened.
