LOL!

I actually got a call from my diehard GOP parents saying that they're outraged and can't support Bush anymore. Ha!

1. Republicans just keep getting weirder.
If this is why they aren't going to support Bush, then their values and priorities are messed up.

8. Their values and priorities ARE messed up
or they wouldn't be right wing loonies.

And bear in mind that at a time when Chimpy needs all the support he can get and the spotlight is about to be put on how his administration traitoriously violated national security over a petty vendetta, his core right wing loony supporters are deserting him because a) he mildly condemned Bill Bennett's racist comments and b) he picked a right wing woman for the Surpeme Court as he promised to do.

29. Oh come on, this is all planned to have neo-cons come out 'against' her
They want these screeds hitting the airwaves denouncing Bush's picks in hopes that the Judiciary Dems will be easy on her and let her slide into the high court.

Neo-cons don't even fart unless there is an ulterior motive

We are now united. Against him.

4. Agree, its unanimous
BTW, Newsmax is a really weird web site - very strange ads. Do conservative men have a problem with their sexuality?

14. All my prostitute friends, and I have many, say YES, they do.
And most of them have more in their closet than shirts.

24. LOL. When I see their ADs for impotence drugs, balding drugs and
self defense classes I get the impression that all repugs are a bunch of limp-dicked, balding little runts that got picked on in high-school. No wonder they are so angry.

Come to think of it, the few repugs I know meet that description.

3. They don't really say what's wrong with her
Edited on Mon Oct-03-05 11:25 AM by booley
Or did i miss that?

OF course, newsmax isn't actually written by journalists..just propagandists. But still, if they have a gripe with htis nominee, you would think they could give a few examples.

Though thier calling O'Conner a 'Liberal" was funny. Apparently anyone who isn't a wing nut will be considered a "Liberal". we will grow by default from al the people the right excommunicates.

7. Oh I see it now, i think
This nominee doesn't have enoguh experience.

Of course, niether did Roberts and that didn't bother them.

Why can't Cons ever be consistent?

5. Three hours after the pick, and Kristol already knows ... huh
Pundits are so annoying. They think they know everything. People are more likely thinking about gas prices, the war, or the baseball playoffs.

P.S.: I think the punk goes by "William" so as not to confuse him with the actor in SNL and Soap.

9. Why Don't Your Parents Approve
of this choice? Is it because of the obvious, or she's not conservative enough?

11. Not conservative enough
They had heard that she's pro-choice and were outraged. They also didn't like the fact that she used to be Bush's personal lawyer. Whether these things are true, I don't know, but they had heard those things specifically.

like Condi or Gonzales.

Don't know where people are getting that from, but I've heard it from several different places.

12. It's amazing
That of all the horrible things Bush has done, the thing that drives away his supporters is his perceived failure to appoint someone far-right enough.

An illegal war based on lies? No problem.
Torture? No problem.
Murder of civilians? No problem.
De facto Murder-by-inaction of US citizens? No problem.
Bankrupting the country? No problem.
Making a mockery of the US on the world stage? No problem.

Appointing someone not necessarily as insane as Pat Robertson?
I can't support him anymore!

20. Maybe it's the final straw?
Maybe it's the sense that they've stuck with him in spite of Iraq, Katrina, the deficit, etc. because they think he will finally oppoint judges to overturn Roe v. Wade. Kristol himself said that Rep. aren't going to bail on Bush "because he might have messed up on Katrina" cause they want conservative agenda & judiciary. So his supporters hang tight & then he doesn't even appoint a religious wacko? They must feel sold out.

22. That's an excellent point!
If the whole two-term debacle was seen as an opportunity to "correct" the USSC, then this might indeed be the unkindliest cut of all for his far-right base.

17. Ahhhh.....
Newsmax.....

The favorite site of right wing nuts everywhere. I can't tell you how many arguments I have been in with rep's when they whip out some article with these bizarre unsubstantiated assertions. Ask them where it is from...."why do you care! can you refute the FACTS in the article?!?!"....press a little more and finally they will tell you that it is newsmax. At this point you know that it is complete garbage. NRO and WSJ are at least credible. Sure, I may disagree with them on....well....just about everything. But at least they have a brain. Newsmax is completely useless.

21. Is this a trick. Do conservatives really know that she's exactly
what they want and are trying to convince Dems they are distressed with her choice. I don't trust a word out of Kristol's mouth, PNAC poster boy that he is.

26. Frankly, its just bizarre in every way but one
`plenty of reliable anti-choice/pro business/pro nat security/pro executive branck conservatives out there and should he want to "play" (because he doesn't mean it just plays it) the "diversity" game he still has plenty to pick from . He could have made all of his rabid constituencies very happy and yet he didn't---why? Because its all about HIM. This is a Bush foot soldier to the last breath. All he cares about is himself--he ain't runnin' again.

Seriously, this was a dumb pick but it was a personal pick. Its all about him first last and always

because they think Democrats will be stupid enough to think that if the neo-cons are against her she must be good.

This is Karl Rove's doing.

30. Conservatives freaking out
I sort of think the outrage is genuine. Conservatives are freaking out on the National Review site. (http://corner.nationalreview.com/05_10_02_corner-archive.asp#078285)
Typical snark - "It's an inspiring testament to the diversity of the president's cronies." This isn't something they're saying to Democrats, they're saying it to each other. Maybe the conservatives will revolt on Bush?
