Anti war protest in.... Lubbock Friggin Texas?
Aw Hell, why not. If you want to stick the vampire, Lubbock is about as close to the heart of the damn villain as you can get.

There is a big park here that does not require a permit for a gathering/demonstration (after all, who would dare?).

So we're going to put one on. Haven't decided the date and time yet, but can I get an idea how many DUers will come?

This will be a straight up, no hidden agendas, no 'other causes' anti-war, bring 'em home now kind of protest. I suspect it will take about one day, a Saturday, and since nothing ever happens here, it will definitely make news.

So if the protest is, say, in December, who can I count on to show up?

1. Lubbock Texas......I was raised there. Graduated from
Coronado.

If at all possible, I will try to be there. Sounds like fun. You going to get some Flyers out at Tech?

2. Not sure how I'm going to publicize it (other than here)
I'm hoping it is audacious enough to pick up some free press and some free internet play.

My co-conspirator is the one who knows all the park rules and what is required (not a permit, but notice). I don't have anyone yet with any experience in planning the "logistics" (ie-food, portapotties, etc.); but once we get a firm date, we will make sure it is all set up.

This won't be just a vigil, but a protest, with speeches, signs, the whole thing. The focus will be purely anti-war, bring 'em home; no sideshows like "free the Beijing 7".

Anything showing the Republican and Administration's disregard for our troops (like Operation Offset) will be welcome, as will criticism of Vichy dems.
