Here's why the right's anger with Bush doesn't mean anything...
Oh wow, big deal. They wait until AFTER they get him elected to turn on him and bitch about the things he does. How f'ng brave of them.

And for anyone who thinks that any of this anger or righteous indignation means anything for the elections of 2006 and/or 2008, I'm sorry but I think that's a load of hooey. The people who ever have even given Bush a modicum of the doubt did so and continue to do so because they hate liberals and they hate democrats. That's not going to change. These same people are still going to always and without fail vote for the republican candidate. Maybe they'll be pissed that McCain is not a right wing extremist (*COUGH*BULLSHIT*COUGH*) or that Guilliani is pro-choice and pro-gay rights. But their disenchantment with Bush is never going to translate to disenchantment with the republican party because for them it will ALWAYS be better than the alternative which is the democrats and the liberals. Yeah, with an election a year away they are all in a froth. Big fucking deal. Come November 2006 they'll be buying whatevever bag of crap any republican candidate is selling for one reason and one reason only: HE'S NOT A DEMOCRAT. And when any of us point out "Look how horrible this country was run under republican rule with Bush!!! You can't trust these people" Their response will be that (insert 2006/2008 republican candidate here) is different. "He/She is not Bush!"

I still say we fight with every fibre of our being and hold our dems accountable. But I've got to respectfully disagree with anyone who honestly thinks that any of this is going to mean a damn thing in 2006 or 2008.

2. That is absolutely correct...this is one big "sporting contest" to them...
At the end of the day, they don't give a rats ass about anything other than which "team" they should support. That don't think, don't analyze, and certainly don't ask the hard, logical questions. Your point is what I "know" to be truth here in my home state of Texas.... National politics are the equivalent of Friday night football, its only about the team.

Come 2006/08 these ass hats will be out in full force supporting their "team" even if they show up on national tv ripping the heads off of puppies and burning every book ever written. (oh... but what about the children *yuk)

4. You are correct....
...except if their "righteous indignation" leads to a third party run by "a real conservative" to splinter off votes or they become so disgusted they stay home.

Otherwise you are spot on.

6. You're right.
It doesn't mean anything.

They are not unhappy because he's been too hard right. It's because they think he is being too nice to us. They think Miers is a stealth O'Conner or Souter, for example.

And what we see as disasters, well, they just don't. They think we carp and whine about nothing. Really, Kipling said it best in a different context. I will paraphrase slightly "Oh, right is right, and left is left, and never the twain shall meet."
