Delay's new indictment, money laundering, has a life sentence attached.
"AUSTIN, Texas - A Texas grand jury on Monday re-indicted Rep. Tom DeLay on charges of conspiring to launder money and money laundering after the former majority leader attacked last week's indictment on technical grounds.

The new indictment, handed up by a grand jury seated Monday, contained two counts. The money laundering charge carries a penalty of up to life in prison. Last week, DeLay was charged with conspiracy to violate campaign-finance laws..."

Man that would be rich, Delay doing life in Texas.

1. You think he'd ever get life though?
Or if he did, actually not get out?

I'll keep hoping though! I REALLY hope it happens!

4. According to recent articles in the NYT and WSJ, more and more
lifers are actually dying in prison.

It's become a huge financial drain on the system, because it costs quite a bit to care for sick, old and dying inmates. Even some Repukes are talking about letting up, because well, it's costing money. (Compassion is not involved.)

5. Yep, I did see that and was thinking about it.
Didn't read the entire article that was on the front page - today or yesterday, I forget.

3. Also, It's Real Criminality, Not Just Election Law
The first indictment alleged Delay participated in a conspiracy, but alleged no overt acts against DeLay himself. Serious, but not on mainstream America's radar screen. (We crazy Democrats are the only people who believe crimes against the election laws are SERIOUS.)

But this time it's MONEY LAUNDERING. This is a crime America can wrap its brain around. Sounds like mobsters or drug dealers, doesn't it?

They's gonna be some serious whiskey drinkin' in Austin TONIGHT!
