BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Four U.S. soldiers and a Marine have been killed in attacks in Iraq, military officials said Tuesday.

The deaths were announced on the same day as U.S.-led forces launched an offensive in the western province of Anbar, where four of the troops died, military statements said.

Three soldiers from the 2nd Regimental Combat Team, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward) died from injuries sustained in a blast Monday, officials said.

All three were involved in combat operations in the Anbar city of Haqlaniya, a statement said, but it was not clear whether they were all killed by the same roadside bomb.

Separately, a U.S. Marine was killed in action Monday by a roadside bomb in the Anbar city of Karabila, a military statement said. The Marine was assigned to the same combat team as the soldiers and was involved in Operation Iron Fist. (Watch Marines battle insurgents in Karabila. (Viewer discsretion advised) -- 2:28)

5. Every time I hear about a Marine being killed
I think about Binka and hope it wasn't her son. I know there are other DU'ers with loved ones there and even a few DU'ers there, but my heart skips a beat now when I read these headlines.

7. I'm sorry to hear that Leftchick
Even if he is a piece or work I hope he comes home, and in one piece, sometimes it takes getting smacked upside the head to wake one up, I have the feeling that his opinion won't last long.

8. I hope so, he needs to grow up.
he is only Nineteen! Cripes, nineteen with a gun and the urge to kill so called terrorists. I hope he comes home sane and with all of his limbs and hopefully a new awareness of life.

9. Wake UP America...WAKE UP CONGRESS
This blood is on your hands too.

When Congress gave Bush the power to go to war as a POLITICAl gamble meant to prove he wanted war, they played with these 2000 lives and LOST:

Section 8. The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States; but all duties, imposts and excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

....

To declare war, grant letters of marque and reprisal, and make rules concerning captures on land and water;

10. It seems as if nobody cares
Out in the real world, I mean. You keep hearing that the chimp has low approval ratings because of the mess in Iraq, but thats all you hear about the mess in Iraq.

Someone somewhere had a good point: if the press would show the situation in Iraq like they did for Katrina, there would be outrage.

But now it only seems has if there is "Iraq fatigue" Quiet, not even desperate, capitualation to whats going on and ignoring the problem.
