OK - Where is Katherine Lanpher (Al Franken co-host) going?
I'm watching the show I recorded from yesterday and Al mentioned that this was Katherine's last week.
Who will be replacing her?

AFAIK, no mention yet of any potential replacements.

2. She does a show on the weekend

Al's moving the show to MN so he can run against Normie Coleman in 08.

Lanpher is from MN but is staying in NY. I personally don't like her but a lot of Minnesotans do. She had a show on MPR here before she left for AAR. I'll have to try to listen to Al again after she leaves.

3. Here's the scoop from the Franken show staff:

It is with great regret that we write to let you know that Katherine Lanpher will be leaving "The Al Franken Show." Katherine has received a book deal from a new imprint at Time Warner to write a memoir of her move to New York.

While we will miss Katherine every time Al fumbles an interview, mangles an introduction, or has to go to the bathroom in the middle of a segment, in other words, all the time, we are thrilled that she has this opportunity to use the talent that has sustained us at "The Al Franken Show" in a new and rewarding way.

Her deadline in mid-January is unusually aggressive and necessitates an almost immediate departure so that she can begin procrastinating in earnest. Katherine has been very generous in agreeing to work for another two weeks while we prepare as best we can for our Post-Katherine Era.

Her last broadcast as co-host will be on Friday, Oct. 7th. Her first broadcast as best-selling author should take place sometime next spring.

8. No, haven't heard. But I wouldn't be surprised if Ben Wikler
(the show's producer) sometimes sits in or even Tom Davis.

5. She already has a weekend culture show on AAR.
I guess they think Franken is sufficiently broken in as a radio host.

Maybe the book has changed that.
