Bush considering whether U.S. military should help quarantine USA
THIS IS A CUT FROM AN AOL NEWS ARTICLE:

http://aolsvc.news.aol.com/news/article.adp?id=20051004092209990001&ncid=NWS00010000000001

In a wide-ranging news conference, Bush said he was considering whether the U.S. military should be used to help quarantine part of the country in the event of a pandemic of Avian bird flu. "I'm not predicting an outbreak," he said. "I'm just suggesting to you that we need to be thinking about it."

Then Bush mused out loud: "It's one thing to shut down airplanes, it's another" to quarantine part of the U.S. "And who is best to effect a quarantine?" the president asked. Then he answered: "One option is to use the military."

"I think the president should have all ... assets on the table to deal with something this significant," Bush said.

2. Translated, this means:

"I think the president should have absolute power."

Which his junta has wanted all along.

WTF? Why the airplane reference?

peace.

4. Hmm the 1918 Pandemic
was handled with some military assets, mostly N.Guard troops, but mostly by the Natioal Health Service, the same service he has gutted

32. Ironic, that the 1918 Pandemic began at a military base.
Many infections with similar but milder symptoms were recorded in the spring of 1918, with sore throat, headaches, dizziness, and loss of appetite. It has been proposed that the earliest known cases were in Haskell County, Kansas, in January 1918. Several local men were inducted into the army at Fort Riley, Kansas, where on March 4, 1918, company cook Albert Gitchell reported to the infirmary with a temperature of 103 F (39.5 C). He was soon followed by Corporal Lee Drake and Sergeant Adolph Hurby. Within two days 522 men at the camp had reported sick. In the summer, infections became much more severe. In August 1918 the more deadly version broke out simultaneously in three disparate locations — Brest, Boston, Massachusetts, and Freetown. Many of the worst outbreaks of the "Flu" were among soldiers, both at the front lines and in camps far away which soon spread into civilian populations.

Laying the groundwork for dealing with the fallout from the next FEMA screwup? They already have the CDC locking down information.

8. Considering how well he managed Katrina and Rita
using the military for quarantine (shudder) will be one big Charlie Foxtrot. Besides, what military would he use? Aren't they already committed to Iraq and Afghanistan?

34. I don't mean to be alarmist, but...

I'M ALARMED!

Apparently we already have some of those "camps" just waiting for residents.

Here's some scary stuff I found awhile ago, these are from various media outlets:

http://www.prisonplanet.com/analysis_lavello_031603_camps.html

http://www.prisonplanet.com/foundations_are_in_place_for_martial_law_in_the_us.html

http://www.prisonplanet.com/concentration_camps_in_okanagon_county.html

http://www.prisonplanet.com/vast_quarantine_role_advocated_for_states.html

http://www.prisonplanet.com/291103federalcamps.html

And I remember reading a MSM story during Katrina where a reporter was aboard an airplane and the evacuees with her did not know where they were being taken, and she wrote she was told by the crew to NOT tell the evacuees where they were actually headed, which was some location I think in Utah.

I'm scared.

10. So now we get to play "insurgents and soldiers" ourselves?
Don't get me wrong: I'm the son of veterans, am a veteran and I'm married to a veteran.

We need the military to protect us. We don't need the military to protect us from ourselves.

Take a look at New Orleans and Katrina...that, I believe, is what we could expect from a military-enforced quarantine. Start stocking up on supplies, people.

You can thank Bush for that. Do the "we broke it, we own it" people want the troops to come home from Iraq YET?

14. The military is stretched thin now
This will definitely spell the end of the volunteer army if implemented. Bush only thinks that one disaster will hit at a time and will be resolved before the next one hits, but Nature can hit us with multiple catastrophes at the same time.

16. How do you train all these new draftees in the middle of a flu outbreak?
Won't be no time to send people through boot camp for several months if they start considering quarantines after the thing hits. Have to use the ready made armies from Dyn-Corp and Blackwater Security to keep millions of panicked Americans in line just like is being done in New Orleans right now.

17. Great. Thanks for the warning. I'll be prepared for utter failure!!
Well, at least he's letting us know!

If a bird-flu pandemic strikes the United States--total tools--headed by a sadistic, fascist ass clown who hates the poor and middle class, will be in charge of our health, welfare and well being.

We can expect one-week waits for a bottle of water. Oh, and also--be prepared for these "quarantined areas" to be free of food, blankets, diapers, adequate medical experts, military personnel or anyone who gives a rip!

I can smell the discombobulation and poor planning from here!

That's right folks--the brilliant ass wipes who abandoned the NOLA residents are going to be in charge of an ENTIRE SECTION OF THE UNITED STATES! Whooopeee!

I'm CERTAINLY glad we all have fair warning!

Anyone who doesn't stock up with food and water--and who doesn't have a plan for what to do--WHEN this pandemic breaks out---is pretty much signing their own death certificate.

There are many medical experts telling people how to prepare and what to do. Please research and prepare---unless you feel comfortable with Chimpy Mcfailure holding the paddles while the nation has a heart attack.

35. It's a Steven King book about good vs. evil after an apparent release of
a biological military agent has killed off most of the population. I don't know if I'd want to read all that girth online, assuming someone has violated copyrights to do so. I'm not as big a King fan as a lot of people, and I thought the book was rather useless from a survivalist standpoint, but the portrayal of the depopulated America was done rather nicely. There was a miniseries of it a few years ago, and the George Romero proposed movie script used to be available at http://www.subcin.com/ which is a fairly quick read.

31. We don't know which strain of Bird Flu, if any, we will be facing.
Bird flu mutates quickly. Flu is speeding up it's mutation rate as an evolutionary response to vaccines. The means that a particular flu vaccine is obsolete faster.
