Delay refused to testify under oath
The foreman from the Texas Grand Jury was interviewed on the news last night and he said that they had invited Delay to come an talk to them numerous times, but he refused to do anything under oath.

It seems the Bugman has much to hide? Otherwise, why would such a good christian be afraid to tell the truth?

8. Yeap, found the transcript
10/04/05

BROWN: Whatever disagreements there may in Washington, one man in Texas has little doubt about the grand jury indictment of Congressman Tom DeLay. He was the foreman of the grand jury that set the indictment up. He is also a former deputy sheriff, a state insurance investigator. William Gibson, it turns out, doesn't like to have his picture taken but he was happy to join us on the telephone and has.

<snip>

BROWN: Would you have liked to have heard from Mr. DeLay?

GIBSON: We had requested. He had answered with Ronnie Earle the district attorney. But he would not go under oath. He gave a statement to Mr. Earle. That statement was presented to the grand jury. We had requested that Mr. DeLay visit with us. He was given an open invitation but he never did appear.

2. Well he surely does have something to hide
But I doubt I'd be enthusiastic about testifying before a Grand Jury without compulsion. Saying "The Innocent have nothing to fear" (or words to that effect) always sends a chill down my spine.

4. True, but...
folks like DeLay pretty much buy into the "innocent have nothing to fear" reasoning hook, line, and sinker. EXCEPT, obviously, when it applies to them.

6. Except when those 'innocents'
are self proclaimed, holier then thou, higher moral authority types in public office. I think they should be held to a higher standard then the rest of us.

Keep in mind that this Grand Jury did not start out investigating Delay, the investigation lead them to Delay. Many people in the course of an investigation can and do talk to the GJ under oath. Delay choose not to and I think that says a lot about his involvement in this matter which he continues to deny.

5. It's not telling the truth that scares DeLay
It's having to touch a Bible. His true form is revealed for an instant when he first makes contact with Holy Scripture, and the grand jury room doesn't have sufficient ventilation to dissipate the smell of brimstone.

At least, that's what I've heard. You know, some people are saying that.

10. the Truth
Why is DeLay not taking a page from Bush's book? All he has to do is believe he's telling the truth, and dontcha know, God will see him through... by the way i only just found this site today and i'm loving it! I'm not in DeLay's corner (quite the opposite really... he's a real stinker!) but i'm thinking, if i thought someone was out to get me, i probably wouldn't volunteer to talk to them "under oath" either. I'm not worried... he'll get his.
