It seems that Albertsons, who refused to negotiate with the union during last years strike, is closing many of their stores, is firing the union employees in Southern California, and opening up
Bristol Farms stores in their place.
This is a must read by any UFCW, or any Union members in California.
Here is the articleExcerpt:
Albertsons' corporate greed is threatening the livelihoods of its workers and communities where they live AGAIN. The company is closing stores and firing employees in Southern California--only to open up Albertsons-Bristol Farms stores in their place!
This is happening despite last year's disruptive four-and-a-half month strike in Southern California where Albertsons played a major role in hurting communities. It's unconscionable for Albertsons to close its stores--and open up new ones--in order
to evade its contract obligation with workers.
Communities supported Albertsons' workers when the company tried to eliminate their health care benefits. Apparently, Albertsons needs to hear that message again.
