I can imagine them toasting one another continually, until both of them look good to each other.

3. Bush was appointed by the Supreme Court. He knows the value of
having *personal* friends on the court. I think this nomination is much more about Bush and his family than the Republican Party or even this particular Bush Administration.

5. She is a right winger
and a fundie (look at her resume and history - it's there) who absolutely supports Bullsh and will help him out if necessary.

So... I chose #3, but 3 & 4 are both applicable.

12. Exactly my thoughts
She's a fundie and a Bushbot. Bush gets two for the price of one.

8. If he wanted controversial, he could have nominated Pat Robertson or
David Duke, and kept this in the news cycle a lot longer.

9. Other......
she's a stealth theo-fascist and is the fifth vote the Cons need to overturn Roe v. Wade. He was hoping to sneak her in under the radar but she's going to be picked apart because there's NO paper trail, not because OF a paper trail like the rest of them.

18. And you think Harriet wouldn't?
From the sounds of it she'd go down on him in the first pew of her fundie church on Sunday morning in front of the whole congregation.

19. No doubt about it! But I think junior would be more comfortable
with Gonzales. Miers might fade in the stretch if confirmed.

24. I chose the last one but
I would assume that Miers knows a great deal of dirt on the Chimp, starting with his National Guard service and continuing through his mis-steps on 911, all the way to the leaking of Valerie Plame, which was surely the subject of ongoing and frequent discussion between Bush and the very people who outed her. I doubt that a Supreme Court Justice will write a 'tell-all' book while on the bench for life. But an ex-White House counsel to the President just might, if the price is right.
