Question regarding NOLA house-by-house search
I noticed that FEMA has given up the search for bodies. However, there are definately some houses left that haven't been searched yet because they were considered too dangerous to enter.

Are those houses just going to be bulldozed without fully checking each house?

1. Probably.
You don't think they actually WANT to find any more bodies, do you? 900-something sounds so much more "non-catastrophic" than thousands, don't you think?

2. I don't know. I hate to think they'd do that. But Jean Meserve reported
on CNN yesterday that there's one area in the 9th ward of more than 100 houses that apparently hasn't been searched. See the topic at

this is a picture from my thread on the 9th ward, the "condemned" sticker is on the truck, it is too unsafe or inaccessible to approach the house

if someone died in the house, will they be forever on the list of the missing?

perhaps they know who they got off the rooftops tho

but to me the numbers just don't add up, i've never seen a projection of this few deaths from an event striking new orleans of this size

4. They are being bulldozed with whatever is inside...
I read that even live pets that were abandoned are being bulldozed with the houses. Don't know how true that is.

5. I suspect that is what will happen... at least to some extent.

6. the house-to-house search should have happened within days . . .
of the hurricane . . . armies of rescuers with axes and chainsaws should have been opening every residential attic in the city . . . the same attics that now contain an untold number of bodies, which they're apparently not even going to retrieve . . .

if this had happened in an affluent white community, they would have pulled out all the stops to find and rescue people . . . in New Orleasn, they pulled out all the stops to obfuscate and hinder the rescue . . . apparently on the theory that fewer poor blacks is a good thing (i.e. "culling the herd") . . .
