Why chief justice Roberts scares me...

I was fairly neutral on Roberts just out of apathy(guilty!). Too many issues to juggle. But here's what scared me today. NBC News discussion of right to die case from Oregon.

Roberts question on doctors right to prescribe lethal levels of drugs:
"But what if a doctor started to prescribe morphine for recreational purposes?"

I know there are great legal minds on this site. I've been lurking for quite awhile. So maybe I'm not tuned in. But to me, That is the dumbest leap of logic I could think of from a CHIEF JUSTICE OF THE SUPREME COURT!

It just revealed an incredible lack of understanding on the subject. Would we argue against children riding bicycles because its a vehicle, and so is an 18 wheel semi? "What if a child wanted to drive a tractor-trailer". It's absurd!

I just don't think a reasonable person who understands the issue would come up with a question like that. It just seemed incredibly simple minded!
