Kerry Amendment fails, 50-49 (needed 3/5ths)
Edited on Wed Oct-05-05 08:51 PM by JohnLocke
Would have waive Budget Act restrictions and increased Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Funding. Required 3/5ths majority.

Failed 50-49. The working poor and fixed-income elderly won't have heat this winter. Republican bastards.

Please nominate for Greatest Page.

didn't have that over his head, my guess is that he'd have said nay. He doesn't give a flying f*ck about average Pennsylvanians let alone poor Pennsylvanians.

62. My fear is that he'll end up like Ashcroft. I was so happy when...
the late Mel Carnahan won over Ashcroft (and Jean Carnahan took the Senate seat in Mel's place). However, because of this, Ashcroft became Attorney General. I would never wish Ashcroft on Missouri, but it just shows that even when someone doesn't get elected, he/she's not out of the game and can still do immense damage.

47. Stevens of Alaska!!
I have never seen such a " piss ant " speak on the Senate floor!! Who the hell does he think he is?? Doesn't he realize that the whole country is on to him, after ABC news revealed that his son wasted $500,000 of our tax dollars to have a 737 plane painted to look like a Salmon? Maybe that's why he's being such a horses ass! I hope they take back all the money he got for his bridge to nowhere! I'm also very upset that Senator Landreau voted NO!!! Is she sucking up to Bush for her State? For help that's NOT COMING????

They will be forcing many elderly people to endure a cold winter in a drafty, barely heated houses. This is absolutely cruel.

34. And the argument put forth by those voting no
is what exactly? Do we need to get our priorities straight? Do they suggest this is frivolous?
Do they suggest if we vote for this the next thing you know living humans are going to clamor for the same rights as unborn humans. What? What's the argument for a no vote?
It's called the right to life correct? Did they vote that down too?

36. Did you ever notice...
votes in the senate are usually 50-49, or 40-50, or something where there is always one vote shy of 100.

99% of the time that missing vote is Kerry. Now, I voted for the guy but Jeeezzz. I wish he'd show up for some votes.

So why can't the Democratic leadership adopt this strategy?
