Have you had your FEAR today? :hide: :hi:
The miserable hath no other medicine but only hope.
-- Shakespeare
Hope-- of all ills that men endure, the only cheap and universal cure;
the captive's freedom, and the sick man's health, the lover's victory, and the beggar's wealth.
-- Crowley
He that would undermine the foundations of our hope for eternity,
seeks to beat down the column which supports the feebleness of humanity.
If the mere delay of hope deferred makes the heart sick,
what will the death of hope-- it's final and total disappointment-- despair, do to it?
-- W. Nevins
In all things it is better to hope than to despair.
-- Goethe
The only thing we have to :scared: is :scared: itself.
-- FDR
No matter what happens, no matter the spin and countercounterspin, no matter what is good or bad RIGHT NOW, no matter how you negotiate the distractions du jour-- the Rong Wing and the Bushco. White House and the Euphemedia will hit you with ONE MORE THING TO WORRY YOURSELF SICK ABOUT.
In this case, bird flu. What were we talking about a minute ago? Bill Bennett, Katrina, Iraq, Bush's poll #'s, Delay's indictments, SCOTUS....... BIRD FLU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dr. Gerberding, head of the CDC, on the Jim Lehrer NewsHour: "WE ARE OVERDUE FOR A PANDEMIC."
That's just great; way to give the public some realistic perspective, Doctor!
Why does the public need to be FEARFUL about the lack of avian flu vaccine, avian flu treatment? Or about the fact that Bushco. ignored warnings to prepare for an avian flu outbreak earlier? Or about the fact that Bushco's answer to their own failed policies and inability to protect the public is (AGAIN) to militarize the response?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THIS IS A PERFECT TIME FOR SOME GUMPTION AND FORWARD THINKING:
FEAR IS NOT AN IMMUNITY ENHANCER. Fire up that immune response. Stay well. Stay focused. Stay healthy.
PHUCK THE PHARMECEUTICALS. Use Vitamin C and preventative health treatments. Start NOW. Educate everyone you know about immune boosting.

Editor -- There have been many articles decrying the sad state of our world, our country and our communties. As I have read Cynthia Tucker, Molly Ivins, Jon Carroll and the rest, I have this feeling of failure, of inability to do anything meaningful that will impact the dreadful problems that abound, that overwhelm the reader.
Yes, things are horrible; unchecked, unregulated, uncaring politicians are increasingly bought and subject to corporations. People are screwed without compunction, integrity is laughed at, wretched poverty inundates us, education is mocked and not used to rescue those in poverty, etc.
But no one gives us, the average reader who would like to help restore integrity etc., anything to do to rectify the situation. Insulation from people and their voices and needs keeps our leaders isolated and implacably focused on their needs to dominate, to take anything they want in any way they want.
Give me something concrete to make those in power sit up and listen, as well as all the doom.
