Harriet Miers Donated $5,000 to Bush Election Recount

WASHINGTON, October 4, 2005 - President George W. Bush's latest Supreme Court nominee, White House Counsel Harriet Miers, donated $5,000 to the Bush-Cheney 2000, Inc.-Recount Fund, a significant portion of the $26,700 total given by individuals at her law firm, Locke Liddell & Sapp. The firm has also taken in $1.23 million lobbying the federal government since 1998 for several Texan interests like the City of Garland as well as major corporations such as railroad giant Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp. and America's top military housing contractor, Hunt Building Co.

9. Ok. The interesting thing is she donates to Gore in 88, then 94 she's

starts donating to the Repukes. It's a "very interesting" change. I wonder what could have precipitated that?

Personally, I think 5 grand is quite a bit for one common lawyer to contribute to the 2000 Bush-Cheney recount corporation in Florida, unless said lawyer had a lot at stake. And...apparently she had. Small investment for a guaranteed lifetime job with perks unknown to the rest of us. So, you have to hand it to her: she is one smart lady. Her investment has paid off.

Some Republicans find that same reason (being smart) as a defensible reason to hate Hillary Clinton with an uncommon passion. Interesting.
