Is it time to discontinue the CSPAN group?

Whither goes the CSPAN group?

Mission: The mission of the DU CSPAN Group is to monitor the next day’s CSPAN JOURNAL scheduled guests in order to prepare background information and talking points for group members in general and all other interested DU’ers who want to support friends and counter the opposition.

2. Alert DU members to the appearance of friends and opponents.
3. Educate DU members how to reach CSPAN Journal by email and phone.
4. Discuss and suggest future guests.
5. Suggest CSPAN coveraqge of future events.
6. Alert DU to other CSPAN broadcasts.

Three of us have participated practically every day for the past several months.

Is it time to pull the plug?

My pledge is in #6. But I will make no effort until more than 3 people participate on a regular basis.

but I refer to your group as well. I will play a more active role in that forum, from now on.

The forum serves as a placeholder, there is not much discussion there. However, that is where the "pointers" are located.

The problem has been the daily scheudle posts to GEN and/or GDP get very little response and sink overnight. People are not replying and keeping the schedules visible overnight/early morning.

As a result, reference information that could be used to call JOURNAL is lost.

I am guilty myself, not regularly posting background information as I once had. This is due to the general lack if interest. If that increases, I will again start providing background information on the guests.

what with the prospect of hearings that could bring about the fall of the Bush Empire!

I'm sure more people would use this thread if they knew about it instead to taking up bandwidth with threads of their own. Tell the admins to advertise you more.

we may be paying more attention to C-span in coming weeks...

How to stimulate some comments re C-span programs? --for ex -- yesterday there was a very interesting hearing/discussion about energy and global warming on C-span. I wanted to talk about that but wondered if anybody in C-span group would be interested. I appreciate the schedule and some of us are watching sporadically...

I try to read every CSPAN thread during my limited weekday time on DU and promise to get into the habit of using the "my forum" feature.
The coming winter weather will give me a bit more time to participate.

Add information about the topics and guests. Many DU'ers are subject matter experts and can add valuable information for others to use.

Or at a minimum, give the daily post(s) a "kick".
