Only ONE reason to pick Miers - Bush fears future examination of his reign
Edited on Thu Oct-06-05 08:26 AM by blm
And he needs his loyalists in the highest places and at every turn to prevent closer scrutiny.

His crimes of office will need spinning and covering up for decades.

He will only entrust those are 100% loyal to him and the Bush family far beyond their loyalty to the citizens of this country.

Every Dem should be asking: What does Bush fear so intensely about the future that he will only entrust it to those who have assured him of their complete deference and loyalty to him?

2. Yes, Miers and Roberts have shown behind-the-scenes political loyalty
Both of his candidates have worked at the top level for Republican Presidents and he is sure they will uphold executive privilege and the secrecy Bush needs to keep him and Repubs propped up instead of being exposed as a frauds.

4. I admit to holding that idea, too.
Being named as an unindicted co-conspirator is more likely than an indictment of the president, since he wouldn't be tried while in office.

But, the other thing about Bush is that he really does live in a bubble. He looked for a nominee where he always looks first, inside that bubble.

His acceptance and reliance on cronyism is life long, and it may be that he is more committed to cronyism than he is to conservatism.

5. Actually, every Dem should be asking
Why are right wing loonies so upset with even the perception that she might be impartial....

And if Chimpy really hasn't discussed issues with her, how does he know what her views on those issues are?

"His crimes of office will need spinning and covering up for decades."
Considering every day brings more of them to light...

8. I liken Bush's appoint of Miers to Poppy's nominating of
dimwitted Dan Quayle as his running mate.

Both are insurance against impeachment/indictment.

10. I'd liken it to Poppy's pardon of Caspar Weinberger to prevent his own
crimes from being told in a public courthouse under oath.

That she'd be a pitbull in size 6 shoes to protect "presidential" privilege and opacity of the executive.

PS: I think you're right that that may be almost all she's good for, if you discount overturning Roe v. Wade. ;)
