Freeper demonstrates ignorance of social Security System
Complains about a 12 year old receiving Social Security payments:

Too ignorant to know that if a parent pays into Social Security and dies, minor children get payments.

1. Survivors' Benefits
Once you figure in the "attributed cost" of the "life insurance premium" part of FICA -- SS is a good deal for many Americans.

I had an uncle who died of cancer very young --- leaving three little kids -- all under 10.

The freeper understanding (mis-understanding) of SS is scary.

2. Well, shouldn't the kid just go out and get a job anyway?

Geez, this welfare society...I am so sick of my tax money paying for these lazy kids...when I was his age....:puke:

(just in case anyone couldn't tell. :sarcasm: )

3. It doesn't surprise me that a freeper is that ignorant.
What surprises me is that there are some on that thread that have some sense of how Social Security works.

5. What surprises me is that some of them DID understand.
One of the main arguments I've been making against private accounts is that SS is NOT a retirement account but Insurance! Obviously, some of these freepers understand that, but still favor private retirement accounts that won't pay off if die early or are disabled.

I just cannot understand their mentality.

4. I started getting Social Security payments when I was 4.
My sibs were even younger. And we kept getting them until we were 18. Gosh, we all lucked out!

Who needs a father?

How many threads could we start with "Freeper demonstrates ignorance...."?

6. My dad died leaving my mom with 4 kids from 2-13.
With out the survivors benefits we would have been on welfare.
My mom did go back to school to get her teaching certificate.
But there is no way a family of 5 could make it on just a teacher's salary.
