Freudian slip by Faux News typist during speech?
Sorry for the poor quality of photos;
When I saw this I hit "pause" and took
pics of my TV screen.

Did a typist reveal B*sh's REAL agenda here?
(look at the "news alert" message)

This would really explain alot; maybe he's only COMPETING
with Osama to see who can kill the most innocent civilians.
Would someone please tell him he WON already?

And did FAUX quickly replace that person with a member of FR?
(this was 4 minutes later)

Or did he really mean "except"...as in "rule out"?
If so, I can only say "No shit, Sherlock!"

10. The second picture has a common typo.
People confuse "except" and "accept" all of the time, just as they confuse "ensure" and "insure."

It's no biggie.

14. No biggie for most, but when writing ENGLISH is yer frickin JOB...
...I think it's a different story.

And I think it's an excellent example of how
B*sh-supporters DON'T place a high value on COMPETENCE.

19. Beg to differ...
It IS a big deal. There is a DIFFERENCE between except and accept. If a business posts a sign saying "No checks excepted," that's probably in direct contradiction to what they actually mean.

Similarly, "affect" and "effect" are vastly dissimilar. Something might "affect" global warming but to "effect" it would be quite a bit different.

There are hundreds of such cases, most less problematical. I refuse to accept the "everybody does it" theory, so beloved by right-wingers when they've been caught with their hands in the cookie jar, but that's another issue altogether isn't it?

38. The one that drives me NUTS is people who think that one can
combine 'possibly' and 'supposedly' to make 'supposably.'
I also know several people who, when writing, will write 'should of' instead of 'should've'
Makes me want to scream!

43. They made a big deal of "supposably"
on one of the sitcoms. Maybe Seinfeld? In any case, I agree with you, but then I've never gotten over "hopefully" used instead of "it is hoped" or "I hope" or even "one hopes," so who am I to judge. And I haven't REALLY recovered from using "they" instead of "he or she," but as a speaker once remarked to a question from an English professor, "I'm afraid that battle's already lost."

Guess I'm just a dinosaur. Sigh....

Edited on Thu Oct-06-05 10:59 AM by leveymg
When the transcribers take the Fox employment test, they don't get hired unless they show a real aptitude for mangling the English language.

But, Bush leaves so much open to interpretation, you can't blame them that much.

12. "We must top them"
An obvious reference to Bush White House male prostitute/"journalist" Jeff Gannon -- a self-proclaimed Republican "top" whatever the hell that means.
