Democrats Urged to Abandon Principles - Become the Republican PartyABC News'
Democrats Urged to Abandon Election Myths tells Democrats to give up on their base and talk less about domestic issues and more about national security. The suggestions listed one after the other sound like they came from Bush's campaign speeches.
This has been a problem for the Democrats in 2004 when John Kerry's "political analysts" told him to lean to the center, masking who he really is. This is a major reason why he quickly became labeled as a "flip-flopper." This same image problem has affected many Democrats as they try to go center of left, sometimes giving up on the issues that define what values they hold dear. The Democratic base has tried to give to the Democrats by accepting the DLC as a possible candidate producer, however, as time rolls on, the only ones capable of displaying the values, morals, and vision of the Democratic Party that everyone has been searching in vain for are those who are willing to sacrifice their political centrism and speak out in a loud voice.
Recently we have seen DNC Chair Howard Dean put a new DNC forward. He has already transformed the DNC, although many still do not see it, into a organized political response team. The masterful part of this transformation is the ability to have a choir of Democratic voices shouting slogans such as "Culture of Corruption" and cronyism but he allows each and every Democratic candidate to come up with their own policies to fix the problems that the DNC talks about. In this way, the DNC is becoming a political force without loosing the power of the individuality of the Democratic Party. The RNC, unfortunately for Republicans, has told it's candidates not only how to run their politics, but also what solutions are acceptable from the top down. No individual thought is allowed to go up the chain in the RNC.
So, when ABC News says that "analysts say" what Democrats should do, don't let them do to the Democrats what they did in 2004 by making us give up our values in order to get elected. The elections come with the visions that are truly reflected in the individual leader. The lack of such a strong leader on the Democratic side of the isle comes from these "analysts" who spend all their time looking at polls and not searching their souls.
