Edited on Thu Oct-06-05 12:20 PM by Stevendsmith
When I say step up, I mean they need to effectively debunk the myth that they "don't stand for anything."

They are not doing that.

And if you don't believe a crapload of "moderate" voters wouldn't gladly vote for McCain, you're crazy.

We're gonna get another Republican in the White House if the Dems continue in their ineptitude.

1. I think Hagel will be the one to beat
same idea, but I think McCain won't run.

2. We're gonna get another Republican in the White House if the Repiglicans
count the votes.

4. Not really.
John McCain would be.. let's see *calculates* 73 years old. Plus, he *MAY* not be a legitimate American citizen.

I just found out that John McCain was born in CANAL ZONE, PANAMA!!!

I'm checking when Panama gained its independence from the US.

Oh nevermind. His dad was the Commander of the entire US Fleet.

7. The left side of his face is really swelling up too
I think he may have to have more surgery.. Shortly after the melanoma surgery he had, he explained the swelling as "post-op", but it's been getting bigger (at least to me it looks bigger)..

5. Dems need to paint McCain in his true colors NOW
Don't wait to attack him during the heat of a national campaign. He is against choice except for the LIFE of the mother (he said it on Hardball within the past couple of months)...not health of mother or fatal genetic malformation of the fetus or anything else...LIFE of mother only.

He originally opposed stem cell research but changed his position within the last 6 months...Flip-flop or polling results.

6. The Right Wing GOP'ers will never let him have the Nomination
Remember the South Carolina primary of 2000?

Should he announce, we can sit back and watch the Swiftboating of McCain and not worry about him in 2008.

10. McCain/Bush,
as in Jeb Bush. This from my friend in Arizona, and what he fears the most.

I agree with him, and as for a puppet, McCain has sold his soul for a shot at being pres.

12. You may be right. He's just the kind of guy "moderates" love.
While the Democratic "leaders" are busily trying to become more Republican yet keep the facade of being "moderate", McCain's already there without the "liberal" baggage that the "not too liberal" dem candidates carry.

If he were a Dem, the DLC would be slobbering all over themselves with glee at finding a candidate that they could sell as a "real" Democrat.

13. Who is spreading the myth?
Kind of hard to debunk a myth when your own people spread the myth instead of the work you're doing.

14. Democrats stand for America,we aren't sure what the Republicans stand for.
Edited on Thu Oct-06-05 01:17 PM by MissMarple
Except for greed, hypocrisy, corporate power, world domination and a bloody Neocon empire. Among other nasty things. :eyes:

Democrats stand for the prosperity, security, and welfare of the American people, all of them. We know that. It's the Republican spin machine folks who say we don't have anything to stand for. And they are chronic liars.

And I think the Dems are getting some air time, now. Katrina was the tipping point. :)

16. Spot ON!!! At least in part.
The only solace I have is that I am not sure McCain can win the over the Fundies.. particularly if Santorum jumps in

Our most winnable ticket:

HRC and someone like Bill Cohen or Bob Graham or Bill Richardon(I'd say an active senators, but two senators will never win unless it is Bayh/Biden

Biden/Richardson would be a nice ticket as well.
