So, did George use this twisted, often-spouted rhetoric in his "speech" today? I couldn't bring myself to watch/listen. I've been prompted to mute/and or turn off the TV lately when his ugly mug shows up on it, lest I throw something at it and damage it beyond repair.

I hate that Resmuglican talking point. We're fighting "them" over there because we chose to occupy their country based on LIES.

5. This is a very persuasive meme.

I know a number of intelligent people who see most of Bush's lies for what they are but who continue to insist that it's a good idea to "fight them over there rather than here." Most of us on the left realize the utter nonsense of this position and realize that we have, in fact, created more terrorists through the war in Iraq, but for a lot of people, this line works.

Not sure, really, how to counter it. Further brainstorming, anyone?

The people we'd have to fight "over here" aren't going to be "over there"

You think somebody with an active plot against the US mainland is going to stop everything and hitch a ride to Iraq? No chance.

That statement is silly because it tries to say that they can't do both, which surely they can.
