Big brother is watching - wierd email from the WH

this is the second such email I've received in the past month from comments@whitehouse.gov
The wierd thing is I have not posted a comment to their site in a very long time, months!

Using your e-mail address as a return address?

And I would always assume one is being watched.

Any other scenario would not include the default reply.

I just did one today from True Majority asking * to support the Senate ammendment to stop torturing people. Within seconds of getting the thank you note from TM, I got a similar email from the wh.

and I got a similar letter myself and I signed a petition not that it matters one tiny little bit.

I signed the Barbara Boxer petition today and an email was sent to the White House.

right after I signed the B. Boxer petition.

lately that were "out of place"
I think they have it fixed where when you send something from another site to the WH this is the response you get.

I had not written the WH directly, but I believe I had signed a petition.

I have not contacted the W.H. at all.

A funny thing happened immediately after signing your recent petition. I RECEIVED AN EMAIL FROM THE WHITEHOUSE.

I polled Democratic Underground (Remember us? We sent you a few roses in February). Many DU'ers also received the email from the White House.

I will not sign another Boxer petition, and I will advise DU to also refrain, until I receive an explaination of the connection of Boxer petitions and emails from the White House.

You signed a letter (petition) to the WH and then get outraged when the recipient (auto)replied? And then urge others to no loeger sign such petitions because the names of the signatories are actually sent qalog with the petition? Did you expect that your endorsement would/should remain secret?

Listen, think carefully -- You sent an email the the WH and got a meaningless autoreply. Why on earth did you expect anytyhing less, or more? And why on earth do you trash Boxer for actually doing what she said she would do?

Please get your facts straight before shooting.

She was advocating for signatures because she intends to walk the petition to the WH!! I didn't remember reading anything about a direct line in!

When someone is putting a petition together to send to the WHITEHOUSE.. the WHITEHOUSE gets it... and then responds.

why on earth is anyone surprised by this?

I e-mail the WH, and I e-mail constantly. I wonder if anyone really reads them! Got a reicipe for Laura,s cookies years ago as a reply when I sent a letter to *.
