So NYC goes on alert yet MSM/feds ignore the OK kid who blew himself up
and was seen trying to buy ammonium nitrate a few days before the explosion:

High level sources in the OU Athletic Department are telling this writer that computer records confirm that Merit Scholar/suicide bomber, Joel Henry Hinrichs III has never purchased a ticket to any OU football game. Those same sources also deny reports from local CBS affiliate, OKC News 9, of OU Security turning away Hinrichs from two separate gates, due to his of his refusal to undergo a routine search before entering the packed arena, and attribute such "erroneous" reports to unvetted call-in tipsters at Channel 9's "Hotline".

Despite the irrelevant fact that Hinrichs never purchased a ticket, these same officials are admitting that he did acquire large quantities of ammonium nitrate fertilizer, later found in his apartment and quickly transported to the local rifle range for detonation...but at the same time, are continuing to support the official story of one man, one bomb, one suicide.

What we do know is that this estranged young man had converted to Islam, moved into an area of campus housing with mostly Orientals (Middle and Far Easterns) and set about purchasing materials and concocting explosives, culminating in his death, when the device he was carrying exploded...very near a large gathering of Americans.

We know that days before the "suicide", an off duty, undercover police officer witnessed Hinrichs trying to purchase ammonium nitrate from Dustin Ellison (Ellison's Feed and Seed), who in turn, witnessed the officer call in the report on his personal cell phone...but according to Tom Easley, of the Norman Police Department, the official intelligence report of this discovery wasn't submitted until three days after the bombing.

Meanwhile, Norman feed store operator Dustin Ellison said Hinrichs attempted to purchase ammonium nitrate a few days before the explosion.

Ellison, whose family operates Ellison Feed and Seed, said the store no longer carries the product because of new federal guidelines regarding its sale. Ammonium nitrate can be used to build bombs and was a key ingredient in the 1995 attack on the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City.

1. How would the OU athletic department know whether or not
Edited on Thu Oct-06-05 05:14 PM by Tess49
he ever bought a ticket. People sell their tickets all the time. They stand in front of the stadium, advertise in the paper or do whatever. I have purchased several OU tickets from a friend and they were used by various members of my family. There is no way to track the identity of a person in possession of a ticket.

5. What difference does it make,....
,...whether a suicide bomber previously bought a ticket or not?

Is this the very first suicide bombing in the USA? If so, why is it being ignored?

8. You're right. It makes no difference. All I know is that FBI agents
have been as thick as flies here since this happened. I live about a mile from the stadium, heard the blast, but thought it was thunder. My dog jumped in my lap - it really frightened her. The next night police detonated other explosives found in this person's apartment. It would have been decent of them to alert us that they were going to do this. We townies had no idea what was going on. Scary for a few moments.

10. I'd be pretty freaked out, too.
It reminds me of this mentally challenged pizza guy,...and someone forcefully placed a unique neck bomb on him. He blew up right in front of the cops. Really freaked me out. Yet, there was a merely a blip about it and then the case disappeared. I've heard nothing about it since then.

2. "mostly Orientals?"
didn't that term fade into history after taking on something of a racist connotation?

11. That particular lingo is familiar, huh.
*scratches head*

Nevertheless, I want to know why this incident of a suicide bombing in this country is going "unattended".

7. With the TX/OU game weekend coming up..
the whole thing is kinda scary..biggest game of the year for this area, taking place at the TX State Fair, etc.

This probably was a kid who had no other motive than to kill himself, but geez, the whole story seems to be flying well underneath the news radar...FBI confiscating campus video, school president saying once a student leaves the stadium now <even during half time> he/she will NOT be allowed back into the stadium.

6. This is complete madness
My family lives outside of OKC and was at that game. 84,000 people were evacuated and there isnt shit on sportscenter, or any other medium really. I only knew about it because they immediately called me saying that everyone in the stadium, football players included, just snapped their heads when they heard an extremely loud explosion.

Who knows what the kids motives were, but nonetheless we just had our first suicide bomber in America and no one is talking about it.

here's the MSM progression of reporting, from one local station. There's apparently a lot more info available "out there," just not on most of the TV stations.

October 1: explosion reported; story is "A police bomb squad detonated explosives found at the site of the blast."

Explosive Device Kills One At University Of Oklahoma

POSTED: 9:28 pm CDT October 1, 2005
UPDATED: 9:57 pm CDT October 1, 2005

NORMAN, Okla. -- One person was killed in an explosion in a traffic circle about 100 yards from a packed football stadium at the University of Oklahoma on Saturday night.

Authorities were calling the death a suicide.

The loud noise of the explosion could be heard inside Oklahoma Memorial Stadium, where 84,000 people were watching the Oklahoma Sooners play Kansas State.

--snip--

A police bomb squad detonated explosives found at the site of the blast. The area near the stadium was searched by bomb dogs.

October 2: "Father says no political motivation." This is the same day that "bomb squad members performed controlled explosions of items connected to the case" at Hinrich's apartment.

POSTED: 5:15 pm CDT October 2, 2005
UPDATED: 8:25 pm CDT October 4, 2005

NORMAN, Okla. -- A University of Oklahoma student who died when an explosive device he was carrying detonated near a packed football stadium wasn't politically motivated, his father said Monday.

--snip--

Hinrichs' father, Joel Hinrichs, Jr., said he's confident his son didn't intend to harm anyone and wasn't motivated by a political agenda.

--snip--

Hinrichs said his son did not leave a suicide note and that FBI agents told him hydrogen peroxide was used to construct the bomb. On Sunday, FBI investigators searched the younger Hinrichs' Norman apartment and his family home in Colorado Springs, Colo.

--snip--

Donald Hamilton, interim director of the Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism in Oklahoma City, said it appears Saturday's incident was not an act of terrorism. "Scholars of terrorism immediately and categorically exclude irrational acts from their definition of terrorism," Hamilton said. "Terrorists have purpose. They have motive. It's just as simple as that ... and if that is not present, it's not terrorism."

October 4: "Hinrichs Tried to Buy Ammonium Nitrate."

POSTED: 5:16 pm CDT October 4, 2005
UPDATED: 10:03 am CDT October 5, 2005

NORMAN, Okla. -- The general manager of a Norman feed store said Tuesday that Joel Henry Hinrichs III had inquired about purchasing ammonium nitrate fertilizer, the primary ingredient used in the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing.

Dustin Ellison, the general manager of Ellison Feed & Seed on Porter Avenue, said that a man matching Hinrichs' description had come into the store days before he blew himself up on OU's campus. Ellison said the man asked about ammonium nitrate, but couldn't offer a reason why he needed it.

According to an AP report, Ellison said that Hinrichs acted strangely and was wearing a vest with what appeared to be wires in it when he asked for ammonium nitrate fertilizer.

--snip--

To this point, authorities still suggest Hinrichs' only motive for blowing himself up was suicide. The FBI released a statement Tuesday evening saying that "there is no known link between Hinrichs and any terrorist or extremist organization(s) or activities."

October 4: "Sources Identify TATP as Component of Bomb: TATP Same Component Used by Infamous Shoe Bomber."

POSTED: 9:56 pm CDT October 4, 2005
UPDATED: 10:11 pm CDT October 4, 2005

NORMAN, Okla. -- Sources confirmed Tuesday night that at least one of the components in the bomb used by Joel Henry Hinrichs III Saturday night was a product called TATP.

Technically, TATP is triacetone triperoxide. However, it's called the 'Mother of Satan' by Islamist extremists. Experts say it is made by mixing common household items such as drain cleaner and bleach to create a white powder with a strong smell. It's so volatile that it can explode even if it's merely dropped. It can even explode spontaneously, experts say.

There have been very few reports of TATP being used in the United States; however, there have been more documented cases overseas -- including Richard Reid, who was arrested after he used TATP in his shoe and tried to light it on a flight.

The FBI is testing materials from the OU student's backpack, and from Hinrichs' apartment. Sources said a chemist from FBI headquarters was flown to Oklahoma to help with the gathering of evidence to be used for testing.

October 5: "Bomber's Roommate Held Briefly After Attack." Oh, and David Boren, the university president, is insisting that Hinrichs acted alone and did not try to get into the stadium. (this is in the article too.)

POSTED: 10:39 am CDT October 5, 2005
UPDATED: 2:23 pm CDT October 5, 2005

NORMAN, Okla. -- The Pakistani roommate of a man authorities said died when he detonated an explosive device outside a crowded football stadium was led in handcuffs from a party shortly after Saturday's explosion, the head of an Islamic student group said.

--snip--

Cheema and three other Muslim students were led in handcuffs from a party by police after the blast, Ashraf Hussein, president of the Muslim Student Association, said Tuesday. They later were released.

--snip--

The FBI said in a statement Tuesday that there is no current threat posed by additional explosive materials, that there is no known threat from anyone else related to the incident and that there is no known link between Hinrichs and any terrorist or extremist organization or activities.

--snip--

Hinrichs' father said the FBI told him the bomb his son had was made of hydrogen peroxide. He said the FBI told him more high-density hydrogen peroxide was found in the apartment.

October 5: "Student Leader: Hinrichs Not Muslim"

POSTED: 7:28 pm CDT October 5, 2005
UPDATED: 7:43 pm CDT October 5, 2005

NORMAN, Okla. -- The president of an OU student organization said he believes Joel Henry Hinrichs III was neither a Muslim nor a visitor to local mosques.

Ashraf Hussein, the president of OU's Muslim Student Association, also confirmed that up to seven people were either questioned or detained regarding the bombing death of Hinrichs, a 21-year-old engineering student.

--snip--

While the incident and its investigation have spurred plenty of rumor and speculation, authorities have consistently maintained that there is no evidence Hinrichs belonged to an extremist organization.

On Tuesday, the owner of a Norman feed store acknowledged that Hinrichs came into Ellison Feed & Seed last week to inquire about ammonium nitrate fertilizer, which was an ingredient in the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing. However, Dustin Ellison said Hinrichs wasn't able to explain what he might want with the ammonium nitrate.

October 6: "Norman Police: Officer Went "Above And Beyond."

NOTE: The officer did not file this report until MONDAY, two days after the bombing, and at least four days after the incident at the feed store.

POSTED: 10:05 am CDT October 6, 2005
UPDATED: 7:15 pm CDT October 6, 2005

NORMAN, Okla. -- Norman police confirmed Thursday that they ran a routine investigation of a 21-year-old University of Oklahoma student who blew himself up on campus Saturday night.

--snip--

The officer, according to Younger, took a mental note of the conversation and its context, and then followed Hinrichs outside. The officer took down the student's license tag number, contacted Norman's police department dispatch operation, had Hinrichs checked for outstanding warrants -- but, alas, found nothing.

The officer continued his investigation Thursday night, but could only conclude that Hinrichs was an OU student and lived in university-subsidized housing. The officer did contact a Norman bomb squad technician; however, the plan at that time was for the off-duty officer to complete a written report for submission the following Monday.

--snip--

When asked whether or not the officer could have done something to prevent the explosion, Younger said the off-duty officer actually went "above and beyond" the call of duty to act as he did.

"I think we're fortunate to have an employee go that far," Younger said. "We don't know what would have happened if the officer hadn't been there."

14. Officials realize that they dropped the ball on this...keeping it quiet?
It may very well be that the feds/local cops realize that they werethisclose to preventing this and never followed up on it. Their excuse: it's nto illegal to buy ammonium nitrate fertilizer..well, there a few hundred people who have done NOTHING "illegal" and they are being held prisoner in Gitmo...

Think if this kid HAD gotten into the stadium and we had 100's dead being reported. Imagine how much egg would have been on the face of our Homeland Security people as it came to realize "yeah we had the LICENSE PLATE number and name of this guy DAYS before he did this" but the whole "saw him in the store" report that the off duty officer was supposed to submit never got processed. If the kid had been of ME descent instead of an Oklahoma white boy, he would have been dragged out of the store and been headed to Gitmo in a heartbeat...

You know how they always give us the "we rely on the public to help us, if you see something suspicious report it to the feds/cops immediately"?? Ok, so the cop in this article did just that...and the incident STILL happened. So when I see the NYC mayor on TV giving the public the same "tell us if you see something unusual", THIS incident in OK needs to be thrown in the feds face..someone asking "HOW will we know that anything we report will actually be followed up on...no one did anything in OK a few days ago with the kid in the fertilizer store who was asking about ammonium nitrate".
-------------------------

http://www.channeloklahoma.com/news/5065442/detail.html

"I think it's important to note that it's not a criminal activity to purchase ammonium nitrate fertilizer," Younger said. However, he noted that the context of Hinrichs' conversation with a manager of Ellison Feed & Seed was suspicious. Younger indicated that the off-duty officer reported that Hinrichs asked about different types of fertilizer and the concentration of ammonium nitrate in each.

If Hinrichs had not died Saturday night, the Norman officer -- according to Younger -- would have filed the written statement, which would have eventually been submitted to federal authorities. The lead investigative agency in the Hinrichs case is the FBI; however, Younger noted the Norman police department would help as needed and requested.
