Cato's Top Five Spending Presidents: It's Bush by a Mile.

The increase in discretionary spending - that is, all nonentitlement programs - in Bush's first term was 48.5 percent in nominal terms. That's more than twice as large as the increase in discretionary spending during Clinton's entire two terms (21.6 percent), and just higher than Lyndon Johnson's entire discretionary spending spree (48.3 percent).

citizens to show for it. Okay so Reagan won the cold war by driving the Soviets into the ground. So why did Bush turn that "economic weapon" on his own people?

Higher discretionary spending levels is one thing, but what amazes me is not only the extent of the spending but how Bush manages to spend the absolute least possible on things which benefit the most citizens. Very little social spending. Also, I think he is STILL the only president in US history to have NEVER vetoed a spending bill. Why, he's the drinkinest, spendinest rootin-tootin (no pu intended) Preznit we've ever had!!!

This evidence from the Cato libertarians, and a mountain of other data show that contemporary Republicans are embarrassing fiscal incontinents. They borrow the future to throw away the present.

George W. Bush is the all-time king of wasteful government spending, bar none.

Almost every single cornerstone of traditional Republican conservatism and this Bush/Cheney gang move against it.

George Bush is the first president in US history to complete a term and never veto a single bill. Bush/Cheney never saw a spending bill they didnt like.

Amazing how after 4 years of this, a self proclaimed conservative can vote for the most UN-conservative and corrupt Republicans in history.

If thats not enough, today they find themselves defending treason and the outting of a CIA front company fighting the war on terror.
