Something to remember about Federal charges brought in Wash., DC....
The jury pool in DC tends to be about 95%....... non republican. Not that that would matter because I'm SURE any jury would would shut political leanings out of any acquit/convict decision they'd be faced with.

A buddy of mine is a criminal defense attorney. He once told me Federal charges are very, very solid. And unlike many state charges, The Feds don't bring charges in which they don't have an extremely high chance of getting a conviction.

1. Thanks
You're right about juries. I think all of us do our best to be neutral in our findings. To tell you the truth, I'd have a hard time serving on Rove's jury.

At least, we can feel pretty sure that the jury won't be biased toward Rove.

2. True
I spent my professional life avoiding the DC Federal Courts, even though I'm a member of that bar. My odds were much better across the river in Virginia, where the judges were just a little bit more genteel. As for the jury pool, it's a strange draw, yes, but, like all juries, not predictable. Not ever.

Your buddy is right. The Feds don't fool around, especially in something this high-profile. Consider the investigative resources Fitzgerald has had at his disposal - the FBI, for openers. It's been amazing that there have been no credible leaks. My colleagues and I keep waiting to hear even a good rumor, but, apparently, Fitzgerald's kept such a tight lid on it, it's been leakproof.

It's either going to be very, very good (for us) or very, very disappointing (for us).

Let us pray.

4. In addition to the usual solid Fed charges, a political case like this...
one would think, would require extra solid cases due to the political fallout.

Question..... could you believe that no charges could be forthcoming after a 2+ year investigation?

5. I could, yeah.
Fitzgerald's reputation is that he doesn't go into cases that he can't win. Check his record.

This one is so complicated, and the one notorious law - about revealing the identity of a covert agent - is so awfully hard to apply and prove, that I could very easily imagine him closing it down without bringing indictments.

Nothing that happens in the law surprises me any more. And, perversely, all of it surprises me. That's why I love it.

3. Your buddy is correct! Rarely are there any FED charges
filed unless they're very sure they can get a conviction! I've also seen this over the years.
