We the below signed are outraged by the massacre of the pets in the schools in Louisiana as well as the video footage of local law enforcement shooting clearly friendly dogs in the streets. Had laws been in place to allow evacuees to take their pets to a safe center much of this tragedy would not have occurred. Furthermore, this massacre should be investigated to the fullest degree by an independent counsel not beholden to the local politics of St. Barnard Parish. The owners of this animals deserve to know the truth.
Contact your legislators and let them know your outrage.

This is also a good site for regular updates on the current animal rescue efforts of one of the few groups that has consistently continued rescue and shelter efforts, maybe the only one that didn’t shut down or evacuate when Hurricane Rita hit.
https://www.pasadosafehaven.org/NEWS/NEWS.htmUPDATE: Pasado's Safe Haven offered the Louisiana State's Attorney's Office full funding of all veterinary necropsies and forensic examination of evidence. The AG's Office agreed to take us up on the offer. Tomorrow, Mark Steinway, Humane Investigator for Pasado's Safe Haven, will meet with a Louisiana Assistant State's Attorney and two of their criminal investigators at the site of the school shootings. They will witness our collection of evidence and transport to a local veterinarian. We are pleased with this development. Following necropsy examination of the bodies, evidence will be sent for forensic examination by qualified, licensed criminal investigators in Louisiana. Please stay tuned to this webpage for updates.
