Read this little tale it'll make you smile at least I promise
I recently made friends with this dude at school we're in our very early 20's and he's one of those rare people that you can have a highly intelligent conversation with about virtually anything.

First off yes he is a liberal, and he is definitely charged against Dubya, and is very passionate about the environment and is always a pleasure to talk politics with. (One of these days I'll give you his theory about using vegetable oil as an alternate fuel but would require the beef industry to take a nosedive theory it's a goodie!)

Anyways like most kids way ahead of his time and age he has a hard time connecting with the female sect of humans, but anyways today was a little different.

He introduced me to this girl he recently met and we all had a nice round about talk about mostly political stuff and a few other things and I must say I was highly impressed by her. She was clearly somebody that just like my friend, is WAY ahead of her age group and time.

I played the role of the buddy who throws in the occasional story or bit of wit, but ultimately my buddy and this girl had a really cool connectiong going it was quite amazing to see them discover their similar interests from books to politics.

Then came the part you're all waiting for.

She asked us if either of us had ever heard of Democratic Underground.

The rest as they say is history. If you're reading this by the way and you think it's you we're talking about, (I won't say your first name) you absolutely rock and we look forward to chatting with you again on Tues!

7. Very neat story.....Friends who share your philosophy are wonderful!
I met my better half in a gay bar discussing politics in 1989. Bush Sr had just been forced to withdraw his nominee for secretary of state because he was unfit (big-time drunk, partyboy Texas senator John Tower-now who does that remind you of?). I overheard a political conversation and joined in, allowing me to meet the person I've spent the last 17 years with.

Politics can bring you some pretty remarkable friends. Good luck to all of you. :toast:

8. Thanks! I'm hoping this gathering results in many years of
us being a permanent rag tag bunch, it's been a long time since I've met a person then discovered that all along they've always been part of da family ;)

9. Thank the Invisible Cloud Being for Skinner & DU
Since I don't get out much anymore, DU is my connection with sanity. I went to a rally before the 2004 election and most of the people I talked to approached me because of the DU sticker on my car. It felt good to know that people I could meet on the street value DU as a community.
