it was?

I am not sure about Miers as compared to O'Connor yet but it seems to me that Roberts is to the left of Rehnquist.

At least we didn't end up with another Thomas or Scalia as Bush promised during the campaign. We could have done a lot worse than with these two in my opinion.

2. Yes, and Hell will freeze over and pigs will fly.
Roberts is at least as crazy as Rehnquist. Don't mistake his being more charming for being less extreme. I wouldn't take him at his word, he clearly lied about his involvement in the Federalist Society.

Miers is far to the right of O'Connor. She is an evangelic Christian who has attended pro-life dinners. I can understand being pro-life, but she has actually gotten active with it, which is a sign of real belief and action. She's a true believer.

So, no way, no how, this will shift the Court anywhere but further right.

3. Do you honestly think Miers might be another O'Connor?
Think again.

Do you honestly think that Chimp would nominated anybody other than a wacko extremist to SCOTUS? Do you honestly believe that Chimpy doesn't have a Roe v Wade litmus test for SCOTUS nominees? Do you honestly believe that Chimpy wants balance on SCOTUS?

You can bet your bottom dollar that Miers would find against Roe v. Wade without hesitation.

Concerning this one issue, Justice Kennedy is now the swing vote because Roberts, Miers, Thomas, and Scalia will all find against Roe v. Wade.

4. I was just listening to the Al Franken show and the guest they had on
seems to think she will be Ok. I don't know what to think about her yet. I personally don't think she will find against Roe v. Wade based on how Democrats on the hill are responding to her but I don't know for sure.

6. SCOTUS will be pro Corporatist. Miers will rule that

laws favorable to multinational corporate interests and their owners are not unconstitutional.

See Corporatism

Benito Mussolini said, "Fascism should more appropriately be called Corporatism because it is a merger of State and corporate power."

7. Bingo...
...we have a winner. The whole values shtick is just that, a marketing scheme to keep the Vangies on the reservation. The Cons can't win without their single issue mindset. They are the only bankable large voting block they have. After all, how many billionaires are there?

The real elites' thrust is pro-corporate, anti regulatory state, pro global capital flow. They will fill all branches of government with those that can deliver the slop to the pigs at the trough. That is the real "invisible hand of God" as far as they are concerned.

The rest is just a tactical side show.
