I'm the first to object when we bash people....
for their names, or crooked teeth or use of eye-liner. But I just couldn't resist passing along this snippet from the Washington Times:

"In Alabama, a state that gave Mr. Bush 62.5 percent of its vote last year, Republican Chairman Twinkle Andress Cavanaugh said, "People respect choice. A lot of people would like to know more about her, but the president has had the most personal contact with her, knows her thoughts, abilities and beliefs, and we trust him to make the right decision."

6. Okay, I'll say it.
Being from the south and having lived several years in Alabama....I had to look to see if Twinkle was a man or a woman. Does anyone else think it sounds like a Bush nickname?

I'm not bashin' just sayin'....

16. I knew a huge-ass football player named Weezie.
That was the name on his birth certificate. Beautiful 6'4" Swede. His mom was named Louise and after six boys she was determined to name one of her children after herself. She was quite a woman. Got to hand it to a Wisconsinite willing to raise a passel of crackers. ;) I have no idea what happened to him after college. I suspect he changed his name because I just tried to google and found nothing.

20. wha...?
Let's see:

His mom was named Louise. She wanted to name her son after herself.

So she named him "Weezie".

Instead of Louis.

My pet glowworm is named Twinkle. And she does not like being compared to creatures such as Twinkle Andress Cavanaugh.

P.S. Now I've got to talk her out of changing her name to Shimmer. Jeez! Thanks a lot!

12. Wasn't that the name of Buck Roger's robot?
Either that or something to do with a fetish for young, skinny men with no body hair...I can't remember which.

Andress seems pretty vague too, I can't seem to figure out if that is a first (or middle) name or part of a last.

14. G. Gordon Liddy used to always refer to Dee Dee Myers this way:
"Dee Dee (I'm not making this name up) Myers."

Wonder if the G-Man also says "Scooter (I'm not making this up) Libby"?

Oh, wait. Liddy probably doesn't talk about Scooter at all--it would be too painful for him to talk about a repukelican-adminstration scandal after having done jail time for... a previous repukelican-administration scandal.

I sure am noticing this particular term lately. "cluster of conservative critics" An inside talking point I guess.

19. yeah, I saw that cute dodge....
just a way to try to marginalize the howling from the right. It's just a "cluster" -- tiny, isolated -- of malcontents, not the "real" Republicans. giggle.
