The man beaten for public drunkeness says he hasn't had a drink in 25
years! Why the hell are the media pundits making excuses for those beasts they call NO police? I just don't get it. When an African-American pulls a wallet from his pocket to identify himself and is shot dead the police blame the victim for threatening actions. When a defenseless African-American man is beaten in clear view of cameras and witnesses we don't blame the police for the beating that we see with our own eyes.

This is a racist nation, period. No doubt these police will be cleared and nothing will be done to them. It's always the case in situations like this. It's like modern lynchings are taking place right before our eyes and the all-white jury will declare the lynchers "innocent."

1. How many drunk people are there in downtown NO? Come on, they
could arrest 75% of the people there in a Saturday night. What I mean is it is a partying place and they are trying to tell us out of all those people this guy just happens to cross some proverbial line?

Sniff sniff

Does anyone else smell fish?

2. I couldn't believe they were kicking him
while he was handcuffed behind his back and lying on the ground. And so much blood! Shit like this breaks my heart.

6. To Serve and Protect
I watched the video and seen the cops serving up shit and the cop on horse back protecting the other cops by backing up his horse to block the view of the camera.

5. "I've been trying to fuckin' STAY ALIVE for SIX weeks!"
That boy is about one more outburst away from drawing down and capping somebody.

They got HIM off the street for a while, but how many other time bombs are on the edge of apeshit down there?

And those are the GOOD ones. The bad apples are probably eating this "Fort Apache" bullshit up like free sushi...

22. The footage of the burly cop going after the AP producer was telling
That cop needs an adrenaline drain immediately. In an effort to stop the filming he lifted the producer onto a car and was yelling two inches from his face. The producer held his press badge and was saying something back. The burly cop didn't beat him up but I'll bet the producer had a few bruises.

I realize the NOLA force has been under extraordinary stress, but if those cops saw the video of what they did to that man and don't recognize that they had lost control, they have no business in uniform.
They belong on the therapy couch.

7. The NOLA cops involved have already been placed on UNPAID
suspension, and have been criminally charged. They are out on bail as we speak, but the wheels of justice are beginning to turn. Guess somebody figured with the journalists' cameras running it might be a slam dunk conviction.

Just hope they can get a jury of normal intelligent people without racist agendas.

8. Did you notice on the video that while one cop had his thigh
right in the mans groin, another cop just decided to grab his leg and pull it up as though he intended to break his leg at the knee? That was sheer criminal sadism.

saw a cop kicking the victim as he lay on the ground. They were like wild animals. People like that should not be on any force.

14. I'm wondering if people who like to beat up people are attracted
to police. Every cop should be equipped with a micro-TV camera that must be active during any arrest. The entire pack would weigh only ounces.

10. What are you talking about?
Are you supporting this brutality? Unbelievable that anyone seeing that video of a sixty-four year old, unarmed man being beaten horrible could support the people doing it.

12. Where on earth would you get the idea that I support this stuff??????
Edited on Tue Oct-11-05 10:17 AM by kestrel91316
I hear that they have been seriously UNDERCHARGED, though, with simple battery only, which means no jail time. Glad to hear the FBI is getting involved.

I think you need to reread my post.........

Edit to add: In Los Angeles they would have had a 6 month investigation before concluding that the cops did nothing wrong. NOLA may be bad, but LAPD is worse.

9. I agree with you one
hundred percent. I am so sick of the police brutality against African Americans. It's like its open season on black people. And yes, they will get off just like the cop in California who beat up the teenager. He even sued the city and got a settlement. Certain jurors don't care if blacks are beaten up but I'll bet if those were black cops committing such heinous acts against whites, the story would be much different. The book would be thrown at them. That video upsets me so much, I can barely watch it. I feel very, very, upset about what is going on in this country. It's like we are rapidly returning to the worst of Jim Crow.

That is how the New Orleans police department treats people.

16. Probably WAS race related
Particularly considering we just witnessed our own government engage in gross negliglence/manslaughter of masses of Blacks.

Four white cops beating the fuck out of ONE Black man, likely IS race related. I'm so sick of the DENIAL I see around DU (from "some" posters).

The New Orleans police do this to people regardless of race. Regardless of the race of the officers or of the person they beat.

18. So, have the Right Wingers weighed in on this yet? About how dangerous
this old man was? How he could've busted out his kung fu moves and beaten down all of the cops holding him, so it was necessary for them to bash his head against a pillar? And try to dislocate or break his leg while he was on the ground?

I'm sure we can rely on Rush Limbaugh for some insight into this regrettable incident! :sarcasm:

trying to fight the police, no need to bash his head in.
