So the NY subway threat was false?
According to CNN International, the informant lied.

If this is true, why did the media and the Government call him a reliable scoure?

Also has anyone said sorry to the people of New York for causing them stress.?

13. It bothered me. Those cops ( the ones looking for bombs in garbage ...
cans and in elderly ladies' shopping bags) cost in excess of 100,000 dollars per annum... with benefits figured in... on average, EACH.

I don't want Bloomberg usin' em for frivolous, thinly disguised political ends.

4. Maybe the informant...
...was being tortured when he gave the information? Maybe he was willing to say anything to make it stop?

Most experts say that torture isn't an effective way to get information. It usually produces unreliable info. Like my mother says, "You can catch more flies with honey than vinegar".

8. How about the dozens of people in Iraq who were rounded up?
Want to bet that these folks are lost in our gulag for good?

Clown after clown, failure after failure, but our bagdhad bobs, our media whores, they keep giving us the daily bullshit without even blinking.

There has to a missing white woman somewhere we can glom onto.

9. Ironic, isn't it?
They make us go batshit crazy over a false alarm, but when a legitimate threat does come along, such as the infamous August-01 PDB, they ignore it completely.

11.  The "story" has now changed.
The "story" has now changed.

The informant was a person that had provided info before regarding Insurgent activities and had been correct on many occassions but incorrect on others. He was a paid informant. They gave him a lie detector test on this story and found that he was lying about this report. They did pay him and let him go but now they cannot locate him.

The NY officials heard about the initial story from the FBI and decided before it was 100% checked out not to take any chances and went ahead with their action. It seems that this was a CYA action on their part.

12. It appears to have been more Bloomberg than Bush.
The GOP mayor is outspending his his DEM opponent(Ferrer) by about 8 to 1. (Bloomberg, for the uninitiated, is worth about 5 billion).

Radio and TV here are awash in mindless 15 second spots pounding away at potential voters as though at Pavlovian dogs. Bloomberg is smart, Bloomberg is modest, Bloomberg is apolitical (!), Bloomberg is beholden to no one, Bloomberg does not flip-flop, and... the biggest lie of all... Bloomberg is honest.

It's pretty effective stuff, all in all. Yet, Ferrer remains within striking distance ( about 10 to 14 pts back) despite next to zero money and universally negative media coverage ( the agreed-upon narrative within the $$$ media: Ferrer is incompetent and inconsistent; a largely unwarranted characterization.

Anyway, Bloomberg and crew are trying to put it out of reach by portraying their mild-mannered machiavelli as a sort of quasi-military figure.

As the FEDs confirmed : there was no plot. Nonetheless, B was all over the media on Thursday and Friday sounding the alarm and calling his troops to their battle stations. When nothing happened, the main stream media just dropped the story, rather than getting Bloomberg to explain.

B is clever . Ferrer could beat him though, with a more aggressive campaign. No sign of one, though.
