I am not normally a person who likes to see anyone suffer, but bush*inc have brought so much pain & suffering on the world and destruction to our country, I make an exception for them. Whenever I think that I cannot stand the wait, I remind myself that the criminals in the WH are pooping great big bricks.

49. Sad for their families? How different from their approach
They love destroying the lives (not the mention the careers) of their political foes. They don't seem to mind the misery and "collateral damage" created from their warfare, either. We may have better Karma, but their total lack of empathy does seem to help them get ahead. Thank god some of our Karma (and theirs) is finally being cashed in.

48. I don't know. I think Libby's going to take the fall. I think Rove may
have negotiated something with Bush & the Bush Cartel during Katrina (when he was so obviously AWOL). And there's all that talk about "fall" and the "aspens turning" in Libby's letter to Miller; then she gets sprung and says she has Libby's assurances; then comes up with the June 23 notes on the meeting with Libby. I think Rove is playing this as (and there may be some truth to it) an errand boy for the James Bond types (Libby).

I think there were a number of deals made during Katrina, and a sort of thieves and murderers peace treaty in what was a very divided, warring White House, especially re: Cheney. My guess: Cheney and Rove will be cited as "unindicted co-conspirators." Cheney will resign and go to Halliburton heaven--to prevent any further probing into this Pandora's Box of a scandal. Libby will do some time. And Rove will call in all media chips to have the spotlight taken off of him, and Bush will retain him (what does he care about "unindicted co-conspiracy"? They didn't PROVE anything, DID they? Nyah-nya-nya!).

Just a guess.

Don't know about the zillion other top Bushites involved. Bolton. Powell. Rice. Hadley. The WHIG. Maybe Rumsfeld, too. The lot of them. And Bush himself. (--though I think only Cheney has the goods on Bush, and they made a deal, finally, with the Katrina loot as part of the barter).

What a rats' nest.

Nobody but me seems to be asking WHY they did this--I mean why really--put so many top Bushites at high risk of treason charges, just to punish an ex-diplomat for his dissenting article.

So here's my theory: They set up Wilson--with the wild goose chase to Niger, based on forged documents--intending to PLANT nukes in Iraq, to discredit the CIA, when these phony, planted nukes were "found" by Judith Miller. But someone foiled that plot (stopped the WMDs from being planted). They weren' sure who. Then, on July 7, 2003, Tony Blair calls them and warns them that the Brits chief WMD expert David Kelly (who had been whistleblowing to the BBC about "sexed up" Iraq WMD intel) knew about their plot to plant the weapons, and that CIA coverts (and maybe Kelly himself) had foiled it, or helped foil it.

The Bushites panic--and rush to out Plame immediately--contacting at least SIX journalists, circulating the Plame memo on AF-1, etc., putting their whole team at risk. They out Plame within a week, on July 14. Four days later, Kelly is found dead under highly suspicious circumstances. His office and computers are searched. Four days after that, they out the entire CIA WMD operation (Brewster Jennings), likely getting some coverts killed, and disabling all WMD monitoring projects--probably because they found more evidence of CIA involvement in foiling their dirty rotten scheme.

This--or something along these lines--helps explain what looks like a really, really stupidly handled punishment of Joe Wilson, putting so many top Bushites at great risk, and then doubling that risk by outing BJ (wholly unnecessary to punishing Wilson). Something much bigger was at stake than public dissent.

It also helps explain the Blairites frenzy over David Kelly (big story in England at the time). He hadn't really said that much. They "sexed up" the documents. Well, yeah. What gov't doesn't do that, going to war? It was an argument over wording and emphasis. They hunted him down, interrogated him for days, threatened him with prosecution, outed his name to the press, and sent him with without protection; and also viciously went after the BBC.

What could Kelly have known that got him killed?--is the question that comes to mind, reading about these events. And, buried in the Hutton report, is the information that, on July 7, Tony Blair was informed that David Kelly "could say some uncomfortable things." Not had said. COULD say.

So, what was it? What did he know that could have gotten him killed? A plot to plant WMDs in Iraq is a guess, but I think a good one. Fits right in with the Bushite MO--lies, falsifications, propaganda on a grand scale. It fits with Judith Miller, and her ambitions, and Mata Hari behavior. It fits their political needs at the time (they'd primed the public to expect a find of WMDs--were they just sitting around hoping Judith Miller would find some? Not likely). It fits with the outing of Plame and BJ, timewise and every other way. It provides an explanation for the crude Niger forgeries and Wilson's trip to Niger, and why this thing was put into Bush's SOTU speech--all bait to the CIA. It explains why Rice actually baited Wilson to publish his article. (They intended to tie him to the CIA and discredit the CIA, when the planted nukes were "found" in Iraq). And it provides a very good motive for killing David Kelly, who was already "off the reservation" whistleblowing to the BBC, and couldn't be trusted.

Finally, there is the connective tissue of Judith Miller, a colleague of David Kelly's, who had used him as a major quoted source in her book "Germs." It was to Miller that Kelly wrote his last email warning of the "many dark actors playing games," on July 17, the day he died, and four days after the first Plame outing. Apparently, he still trusted her.

"Dark actors," indeed. Well, the "dark actors" are crawling out of their dark holes, under Fitzgerald's spotlight, and we'll see what he comes up with, as to indictments and narrative. I tend to doubt that the underneath of Treasongate--why they really did it--will become generally known. I'm not sure I've guessed right, on every point, or even on the whole. I just strongly sense an underbelly to all this. (Some think it's Cheney's arms dealings, in general--why they outed Plame/BJ.)

Have I repeated this often enough?: The answer to the stink in Washington DC is to get rid of these Bushite-controlled election theft machines--electronic voting systems with secret, proprietary programming code, controlled by major Bush donors and supporters, and far rightwing interests. There is nothing we can do about the rest of it until we have recovered our right to vote. Gratifying as some indictments might be--talk about justice!--we shouldn't be depending on them to solve the enormous problems that non-transparent elections have brought upon us and others.

31. Ms. Judy is in big trouble, imo
Those 'found' notes are evidence of obstruction of justice, imo. It seems neither her nor Libby told the Grand Jury of the June contact when they had the opportunity.

Does this mean Fitzgerald's agreement to stick only to her contacts with Libby is void and he is now free to go wherever he chooses while she is under oath? If so, this could be very, very interesting indeed.

40. Oh yes, she is going to appear to 'correct' her errors, no doubt
Her keeping the notes from the June contact with Libby away from the prosecutor and not mentioning it at her last jury appearance puts her in a very bad place. An obstruction of justice charge, for one, or testify again to details she had not disclosed.

The fact that the notes were turned over tells me the call to her lawyer went out soon after she finished testifying the first time without mentioning the June meeting and, now, after meeting with Fitzgerald for hours today, she is to go back and testify tomorrow says a deal was made, exactly what deal we do not know yet.

I suspect Libby has a great need for Tums or Rolaids after hearing she is to testify again.

60. My guess is perjury before treason
It will be much easier to catch any of the players in a lie than it will be to convict of treason. You know their stories are changing. If it changes from one session to another then they have grounds for perjury charges. I'd rather see them tried for treason. Then they could get a taste of their beloved death penalty. Fry them all. I love the smell of pork in the morning.
