I Have a Great Rush Limbaugh Story . . .
I work for a Furniture Warranty company and we have a few technicians that work for us. One in particular previously worked for Mr Limbaugh on Palm Beach. He was hired by Marta to reupholster the new furniture that she purchased from - get this - France and Italy.

So, my co-worker was asked to reupholster the furniture that was just not what Mrs Limbaugh had wanted. She had purchased a different fabric, even the foam cores had to be different (Limbaugh needed something softer for his ass). He was paid around $2000 to reupholster all of the living room furniture (a nice chunk of change that he loved taking mind you). It was around 2 days worth of work. Yeah!

While he was there, he found the most deplorable conditions for Rush's staff. They were not allowed to eat or drink in the main house. The staff had their own quarters and they were only allowed to eat and drink there. Rush would not allow his staff to drink from the same glass that he did. There are 3 different entrances to his house on Palm Beach. One is the main entrance (for Rush and his guests), the 2nd was for deliveries and the 3rd was for the staff. They were never allowed to enter through the main house. The wait staff had to always look down and never talk to anyone that was a guest.

I had to get it off my chest. I was always wondering why they hated poor people so much. Now I know why - they need someone to control. It's sick.

27. Several years ago there was a story about Rush's bathrooms
I don't recall if it was in People Magazine or something similar. He was having one of his houses redesigned with extra bathrooms. They were supposedly constructed like palaces, very large and with chandeliers, paintings, and sofas. The plumbing was gold-plated and the throne was extra large and built like a throne. Apparently, Limbaugh spends a lot of time in his bathrooms and is very particular about their comfort level.

There was also a story on Rush's own website a couple of years ago about his redesign of his studio bathroom. Rush was very proud of it.

55. Not really.
Elvis had a lot of compassion for people. Elvis had to be watched, and kept away from people in need by his handlers. This was due to the fact if he saw someone in need he would try to help him out. His people often worried Elvis would go broke from his generosity.

So not like Limpballs at all. When was the last time you heard of him buying a car for a poor person? Elvis was known for his generosity, Limpballs.....not so much.

56. There are quite a few of stories about Elvis doing this kind of thing
Elvis may have been racist at times, a lech, and a druggie, but you can't help but be surprised about him just buying a Cadillac for some poor guy on the street.

Doubt Limbaugh would ever do anything remotely as spontaneously charitable...at least not without a hundred strategically placed cameras covering him and no debates afterwords.

57. Not the comparison I was thinking of
Elvis had a monstrous appetite for prescription drugs, turned his bathrooms into opulent boudoirs, and died on the throne in one of them. Limbaugh's following the same track.

38. Now wouldn't that be sweeeet!
Howdy, Swampy...
I think your Limbaugh Lizard actually looks BETTER than he does in real life; the spots help too, they give his mug some much-needed character, or the illusion thereof at least...

I recently saw Gosford Park--and I'm not a fan of Robert Altman films by and large, and it's exceptionally overlong and meandering as much of his work is... but I'd still have to recommend it to anyone here who'd like to get a glimpse of how even a smaller 'great house' of England was run less than 100 years ago. Probably much of what is portrayed has survived in a slightly slicker and more modernist fashion, but preserving the intense demarcations and strictures of class so beloved of the fortunate few, to this very day; the Limbaugh story immediately brought the film to mind, at any rate...
Long way of saying that these fascist assholes love living in the past... and the darker and more brutal the past, the better.
What good is having immense power if you can't abuse it?

42. It's his class warfare. Control is one element.
Some think class warfare is about money. It's not. It's about the birthright of the learned-to-be-lazy to feel as though they are better than others who are maddeningly doing better with less money.

So, that little money must be taken from them. Clinton cannot be in the good ole boy group. Social Security must go. More for the rich, less for the poor until those poor will not live comfortably better than those with the birthright.

After all, birthright is all some of them have. They're scared.

So, there is more control and more control. Head down. Entry restriction. Glassware use. It all makes sense.

44. If I had friends that were rich and famous, I could see
possibly instructing my staff to not "bother" them, like asking them for autographs, or to pose for a picture, or something like that.

Celebrities have a right to not be bothered when they're guests in a private home. But to instruct them to look down and never talk to any guest is so over-inflated.

If I worked for someone like that, I might just have to pee in their lemonade.

46. I Interviewed Rushbo in '88
This was right after his national show began...he'd just arrived in NYC from Sacramento. He was more than happy to do interviews and actually face some tough questioning.

I asked him "...should a talk show host use his program to further a political agenda". Rushbo answered "of course, no!". Even at that date, I had a difficult time holding back my snickering.

I'm not defending Limbaugh. He's a venal pig.

This is how the wealthy, corrupt, and politically powerful treat EVERYONE who is not like them. You see this is Barbara Bush's comments about New Orleans evacuees. You see this in the old video clip of W cleaning his glasses on a Late Show producer's skirt. You see this in their efforts to deny health care to the poor. You see this in their efforts to deny a living wage to the residents of New Orleans.
