He's as good as gone? I doubt very seriously if the controlling bunch of RW Whackos in Congress will impeach and Bush can issue a pardon for any indictment brought against him. And Cheney as sure as hell won't resign. These people think they are doing great things for the country and they are delusional enough to believe it's ok to do wrong for their twisted vision of the "greater good".

I believe Cheney will remain V.P. despite charges.

I'm willing to hear reasons on why Bush may not pardon him or the RW nutjobs like Senslessbrenner would even allow impeachment to be considered.

4. Watergate was a completely different political landscape
Congress was not controlled by Nixon cronies like today's congress is controlled by Bush's buddies.

The republican group in power is in LOCKSTEP to an extreme. Bush has already had enough grounds for impeachment and nothing is even being investigated.

If democrats were in power, I'm fairly certain impeachment would have already been considered by this point (DSM, cronyism, incompetence even).

The Bush admin gets caught red-handed time and time again and the media either ignore it or cover it and move on. For the most part, Americans aren't standing up for what is right.

7. Spiro Agnew's crime was at the state level.
I believe that's why they could bring charges against him.

2. Their agenda must be derailed
More important than a guilty verdict in impeachment is halting them in their tracks. The Republicans in the house and senate need to be neutered so they can't destroy more of the environment and destroy more of the constitution.

3. Sadly, you are probably
right. Ch*ney will be pardoned. No one will be impeached or resign--except maybe some sacrificial lamb toward the lower reaches of the food chain.
The reason--I don't think they want anyone else getting in and finding out just how bad it really is--notr do I think they are willing to open the door to share the spoils with anyone else.

5. Nope. If Cheney gets indicted, Shrub will have to fire him, or
demand he step down! So will the rest of the Pubs. They'are already very upset about all the investigations and bad publicity. You have to remember, there's only ONE thing that's MOST important to a politician, and that's his own re-election!

8. These guys are already in the toilet without this
I doubt that charges against the VP concern most of the repubs in Congress. After all, they have figured out how to control the elections in each state through re-districting and e-voting. I have challenged people in the past to prove there is a correlation between presidential performance and congressional elections and no one has succeeded. If a congress person is not re-elected, it's usually because they screwed up or their party doesn't want them there anymore.

9. Very popular Presidents have coat-tails. Even though Shrub
Can't run again, if he were very popular, all his fellow {ubs would want to show their support for his programs. It would indicate they will do for you what your beloved {resident is doing! When he looses popularity, and especially when it falls really low, those same Pubs will say, hey, the people don't like what he's doing so we have to do something else! If they stick with him, they believe their ratings will fall as his did. (They're probably right too!)

You're right that some get reelected or not because of their own performance, but there's a lot of voters out there that have no idea what their congress person did. They simply feel they're aren't happy with the status quo, and will vote for a change!
