Edited on Thu Oct-13-05 10:33 AM by ck4829
This is something for the LIHOP/MIHOP/LIHTI/etc. crowd.

Could Muslims really be the Communists of the 21st Century?

This is more than a rhetorical question.

One interpretation of Islamic Values and Traditions (not Osama's BTW) allows for lots and lots of redistribution of wealth and property (Just like Socialism).

Many RW'ers were scared of the big bad Commies because of redistribution, could RW'ers be scared of Muslims for the same reason?

1. If this were true...
...mere Chrisitianity would have them filling their drawers in panic fear.

Camel, meet needle's eye.
Needle's eye, meet camel.

I'm sure you've got lots to discuss.

2. Conservatives need an enemy, real or imagined...
It's how they define themselves. You're wrong, they're right.

3. I seriously doubt
if .001 percent of RW's know this.

They hate Muslims because they attacked us. They never even noticed them before.

My opinion, but I'm cranky.

4. I don't think so
I mean yes, there are plenty of Conservatives who make tight associations between American Liberals and Near East Terrorists (like David Horowitz or Ann Coulter). But even in those cases, it's more about liberals being suicidally tolerant (in their opinion) and hating America (again, in their opinion) than it is about any convergence in our beliefs.

I think some probably want the Islamic Terrorists as an enemy for political or economic reasons, but not particularly becuase they want to redistribute wealth - I mean look at Saudi Arabia. The Wealthy seem to do pretty good in that country.

6. its based around racism
The religion is that we are all slaves before god,
and "muslim" means slave. It is fitting that bush and
his racist backers support a white invasion of muslim areas
to keep the slaves in line. The multiple overtones of
historical mistakes, from alexander the great, to the british
soveit and american influence on central asia, and the lands
of people with different skin colour. And they fight to
perpetuate their power to dehumanize the slaves.

7. No, I don't think so.
The new 'Communist Threat' of the 21st Century is 'terrorists.' Although, for some, terrorists and Muslims are interchangeable. No, the new "scare" has to be malleable, if it is too specific it disallows (makes it harder) for hating others who aren't Muslim.

8. "Cold War" = "War on Terror." Same business, just different theme.
